Most likely it was a bolt that came back up. I'm not exactly sure. I have been hit by one of those once. Hit a water tower in town about half a mile from where I was out playing soccer...I know...smart :)

I've been about 50 feet away from one strike and was looking right at it when it happened. Couldn't see for awhile and for about 3 years any time lightning got near my hair on my arms would stand up. This was just the auto WB. I tried it with tungsten and it turned it bright blue. I was inside my truck and just had the window open. I was a little over a mile from this strike.

This was my very first shot on my very first attempt at shooting lighting with my DSLR. I had to tone down the highlights considerably as the strike was very bright and at the end of my exposure.

Well if I can remember my wild plants since I don't have my ID books here with me, I believe it is what is called Western Salsify. But that was many years ago and I've moved to a different part of the state.

Yes, I noticed that the day after and had it cleaned. I need to do it again though. Dang Kansas winds are a havoc on changing lenses even inside a vehicle.

I believe he actually has a copy. Since I worked at the college I took them for free and let the players have whatever they wanted. I had a lot of friend requests shortly after I tagged the coaches in the album.

Actual shutter speed is 1/1600s. I sat at in the breakfast nook at the Lindsborg house and while the rest of the birds were eating, this one waited his turn.

We took my in-laws out to see the local waterfall just outside town. As we were leaving we noticed a bright yellow flutter. My Father-in-Law opened the moon roof to the van and allowed me to crawl through enough to get this picture of this male goldfinch eating lunch.
