Just wanted to update this thread in case someone else encountered the same issue.
After buying a spanner and successfully removing the rear element of the lens, I learned that it was backward - after reversing and trying it out again, everything proved to be normal - lens focused as it should.
Following this, came the arduous task of reassembling the lens without dust and blemishes - which turns out to be an arduous task, as cleaning and assembling a lens without dust and smudges is most difficult to do without specialty cleaning wipes - as conventional methods do not work well - at least not in my own experience.
In addition to this, this lens also had what I'd consider, severe yellowing, and to the point of affecting image quality, and so I decided to try a UV treatment.
I also learned that this was only applicable to the rear element stack, and so I took advantage of the lens being apart to place each individual element on a UV lamp, as this would spare the lens from excessive heat and potentially damaging something in the process - plus it was much easier to construct a shroud and holder out of carboard and aluminum foil for the individual lens elements than with the entire lens itself.
With that said, I did the deed using the following UV lamp; "Everbeam 395nm 10W UV LED Black Light" - which I purchased on Amazon for 19.99 CAD
All in all, the deyellowing process took aprox 3 days per element, resulting in crystal clear elements afterward - night and day difference and very satisfying to do imo.
Well that's about all there is to report on this - all in all, an eBay seller tried to rip me off, and somehow managed to get away with my money on both eBay and Paypal - luckily, my CC company was able to get me the money back, though I had to invest in a drive spanner, lens ring removal tool and UV light, which totaled aprox. 160 CAD with shipping and fees, as well as the money lost to customs due to not returning the item for a refund - no physical return = no duty and customs refund...
Having said all that, and on a brighter note, I did however, end-up with a moderately good 105/2.4 67 lens, and so I guess it's not all bad news :)
- hope this helps someone somewhere and thanks for the help

I have a K1000 that needs servicing, does anyone know if there is someone doing CLA in Canada for Pentax film camera's?

That is an encouraging analysis
With that said, would I need any special tools to get to, or adjust the helix?

I will check and report back ---------- Post added 05-14-21 at 11:56 PM ----------
Okay, I have tested and infinity in in focus, at about 5ft ---------- Post added 05-15-21 at 12:00 AM ---------- Also, the lens will focus up-to about 13-14" at it's nearest setting

Hi and thanks again for all your help with this.
With that being said, do you have any tips on how I could adjust the helicoil to get the focus right?
ie, would mounting it on a digital camera allow e to check the focus capabilities of the lens? ---------- Post added 05-14-21 at 10:12 PM ----------
Also, I forgot to ask this, but is there a way to tell if any of the elements are improperly installed in the lens?

Hi and thanks so much for responding.
I have taken two 42 lenses apart in the past, one to clear aperture blades, and the other to remove a stop bearing, for cine-conversion.
Beyond that, I haven't had any experience with lens disassembly.
As for returning the lens, that is not a possibility, as I opened a case for the yellowing, which was then closed as I took too long to return the lens - and so now, I am no longer able to return the lens.

Just received a lens from eBay, seller did not disclose yellowing of the lens, and so I decided to address this myself, though just found out today that the lens has no infinity focus - very blurry at infinity
With that said, does anyone know what might cause this, and or whether its even worth trying to fix?

The good news is that LR is none destructive and that all of your edits are saved in one database file.
With that said, one simple way to access and export your images would be to install VMware and setup a new LR trial - following this, you could then copy your original catalogs over and export your images - though, whatever you do; 'do not share your folders' between Windows and VMware, as that could be disastrous - in fact, I'd create a backup folder of your catalog beforehand just to be on the safe-side.
As for LR, the good news is that it has no impact on your original images and that an expired license would have no impact on those, though you I can understand why you would want your processed images and where this could be a problem.
And finally, one other more obvious solution, would be to activate your license for one month type thing, and export your images - may not be the best in-terms of playing-into Adobe's proverbial money machine, though one option nonetheless...

I wouldn't sweat it - plenty of photos get recognition long after they were taken
With that said, did you shoot the frames in RAW?
Do you still have the original files?
Is so, you may want to consider archiving the RAW files just in case you feel the need to publish the image in the future :)

As previously mentioned(following the initial image), your photo #319, contains all the components to produce what we'd call the infamous 3D photo effect - which is(in my opinion), a combination of DOF effect and scene components to project a subtle sense of surrealism onto its viewers.
Having said that, the image in question, though possessing similar characteristics does not hold the same definition in terms of scene components as #319, as the pathway is muddled and where the scene elements(ie, trees) do not provide the same level of separation in the DOF effect. PS, I believe I have said this, and will say it again - your photo(#319), with the right processing and mounted on the right media, could easily take a place in an art gallery with the best of them.
- my two cents worth of course

Very nice - not quite as gripping as #319, but nicely done also :)

Assuming you are on PC, I'd recommend Adobe Camera RAW or Lightroom
PS. I'd consider RawTherapy advanced RAW development software

I ordered the same grip - different wood species I think, mine is walnut - can't wait to get it!
PS. chose this over the traditional handle in that it allows to focus with the left hand

Alright thanks everyone - as it turns out, the seller removed the battery and the mirror would stay in the up position - after adding a battery, everything worked as it normally should :)
Thanks again for the ideas and suggestions
Next up, shooting a few rolls :) ---------- Post added 04-30-21 at 06:42 AM ----------
Yes, I read about that - it was the first thing I checked upon receiving the camera, no other camera has had me on pins and needles like this - hope its worth it

Hi, so I received my new to me, 6x7 camera today and started to inspect it by loading some film into it for testing.
After opening the door, I noticed that I was unable to advance the film lever to wind the film - I'm sure I missed something, any ideas?

As the title suggests, I just purchased a 6x7 that was sold in mint condition, and I would like to perform a thorough inspection of the camera and its functions to identify and potential issues with it prior-to giving feedback for the sale.
And so I was wondering if anyone could help out by providing some pointers on what to look for and some basic testing to conclude whether the camera is fully functional.

It's alright, but your previous one is a real winner - a perfect blend of out of focus rendering - could use a bit of adjusting(purely subjective), but well worth a large format print imo

With Nikon and Canon getting on the mirrorless bandwagon, I'm going to wager Pentax is following suite.

Based on what I've read, it would appear that all of the criteria's are met.
With that said, I think it's worth considering as much versatility as possible with a new body. ie, with a K-01, a shooter would be limited to K-mount. Which is not to say that it can't do M42, that it will do just fine. And so the question as to whether or not the OP could benefit from mounting pretty much any MF lens in existence may be worth considering as well.
PS. as mentioned previously, this is what motivated me to invest in a mirrorless system. To which I'd add, was the best move I ever did personally in terms of cross-system compatibility. The idea we can pick-up and use any lens, from pretty much any system with focus peaking and image stabilization often seems too good to be true :)
