To be honest I enlisted my brother in law on this one for help.
He only focused on the sky and in particular the clouds, lightening them a bit and improved the contrast of the whole image.
I guess i was really lucky with this shot it didn't need much work.
I have had this shot printed to about 1m long and it will be the wedding gift my wife and I give to my brother, who has moved over to New York to remind him of home. We also have the same shot hanging on our wall. Thats why I enlisted the brother in law.

I think this photo really conveys the power and magnitude of lightning.
I spent about 1/2 an hour trying to find a good place to shoot the storm which was just off the coast of sydney. Once setup i noticed that most of the activity seemed to be around this ship anchored off sydney. So I aimed the camera at the ship and stuck around for about 1 hour. The shot has been cropped and lightned with curves in cs3.
