I also think the problem is in the app that under some software environments fails to reach the wifi network.
wwortels clarification is important, you only have to disable data, not the phone network.
This happens to me in a lollipop android phone, more precisely a One Plus One.

I think a big lens is the Pentax 16-85 for example. I tried both the k-3 and the k-s2 with this "bigger" lens before buying.
TBH for me the difference was not that noticeable, specially since my left hand is always below the camera and lens keeping everything stable. My right hand balances the weight. In fact I like my right hand to be doing the less amount of force possible.

I was using the wifi application to take pictures while the k-s2 camera was on a tripod. The idea was to use the phone as a remote trigger.
I had a problem, the Image Sync app could not reach the camera. I discovered that although the phone was connected to the camera, it had a little "!' on the wifi symbol. In the latest android lollipop OS (android 5.02) I think that means the phone can not reach Google Services. This is obvious, since the camera is acting as a router which is not connected to the internet.
I think this is what happens, when the phone knows the connection is limited, it redirects all traffic away from the k-s2 network and instead tries to route it to the cellular data network.
So using that logic I disabled the data celular network on the phone and kept the camera wifi connected. The app worked fine, as expected, no problems whatsoever.
If any of you are having this problem maybe you can try this fix.

The price is still high, that would be the main reason. It will go down in time.
The k-s2 is a great camera all around. Image quality and size is superb. The tilt screen though is a big advantage, specially for tripod use.
One thing to also take into account is the weight difference between k-s2 and k-3. After walking for hours with the thing I'm pretty sure anyone will notice.

Well, I found my dad's camera, my mom had it in storage. It was actually a Pentax ME super, very light. I love the construction, and it still looks great after so many years. Camera's should look like this one nowadays. I'm going to buy some film and test it out, it should be fun. My dad had a 50 mm lens and a then he bought a Takumar 28 mm wide angle.
I took a picture of the camera and cleaned up the background. Of course did some modern post processing but I like the results, take a look: https://www.dropbox.com/s/do4aqh9uybvwc71/pentax_me_super.png |

Looking forward to what you find out about DCU.
I'm using lightroom and importing directly from the card at the moment and only tried DCU once.
Since I always do post processing I thought going lightroom right away was better.

He means that the software has problems and that a card reader is so much better and faster.
I suggest you go that way too.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I'm thrilled to be here.
Also thanks for the feedback about the composition, I'll experiment more in offsetting the subject. I know I'm just starting out and there is a lot I must learn.
Earlier, at sunset, I tried to offset the bridge to the right and include more of the city skyline in the left. Somehow I missed to try this from the last vantage point, which was the best one by far. ---------- Post added 06-27-15 at 08:30 PM ----------
Lol, not sure if I want to find out what LBA means.I figure if it's something like "lens buyer addiction".
Coincidentally I might have to go through Shinjuku today.....

Hi, new to the forum. I want to tell you the story...
I started getting interested in photography after I went on a trip to San Francisco and noticed how I hated smartphone photos. I decided I needed a camera so I bought a Canon Point & Shoot. Nothing fancy but it did the job, it is a S120. After a year or so I wanted to move to something with interchangeable lenses. I started looking at the Sony A6000 and an Olympus OMD-10 a few months ago.
So I'm currently in Japan in a long trip and four weeks ago I visited the Yodobashi store in Shinjuku. That area is called camera village and this particular store is insane. Six floors of photography products, every brand and every lens you can imagine. I decided that if I wanted a new camera this was the right place to buy it. So I went to test the Sony and the grip sucked. It was too small for my hands it didn't feel like me at all.
A few meters away was the Pentax booth and all the memories of my father's Pentax MX came to me. He was so proud of that camera! My mother still has the camera back home along with a Takumar wide angle from the 80's. I grabbed the K-S2 and it was love at first sight. It took a week for me to finally buy it after reading a number of reviews and visiting different stores to look at the thing.
So here I am with my first DSLR, a brand new K-S2, the kit lens, a smc 50-200 mm, a 50mm prime and a Mefoto tripod. I'm so happy! It's been three weeks and I learn more and more every day. A few hours ago I took this one. Rainbow bridge in Obaida, Tokyo.
Hope to contribute and learn a lot in this forum.

Cool, I'm in a similar situation to you although I also bought a 50 mm prime. I'm using it a lot at the moment to learn composition while wandering around the cities I'm visiting. It's cheap and small so it's aso convenient.

Hmmm, I think this happened to me when I imported RAW file sin PEF format.
It seems lightroom CC does not yet support the K-S2's newer PEF. If that is the case then try using DNG.

I also find the ability to change ISO with the LCD closed very useful. This is probably one thing that I notice I wanted.
If use of the 4 button control is not possible maybe Pentax could add the ability for the user to map another button that allows us to change ISO through the viewfinder.

Correct, this is the behavior, I wish we could be able to manipulate ISO with the LCD closed.
