Nature Common Loon - Uncommon View

This is a common loon stretching its wings. I’ve observed them doing this often but this was the first time for me to see it straight on.

Also is there a dedicated bird thread. I see birds in flight but I can’t find just birds

I have one and I use it exactly as the website suggests with extension tubes and step-up rings. I find it’s fun and creative. Here is one I took with the set-up. I also like to take firework photos with this. I find you need to keep this lens really spotless or the spots show up since you are focusing on the ball’s image

Thematic Brenizer Method photos

I’ve been looking back at my photos and I think I am getting a clearer understanding of when I should try this method. I think I should have tried it with the the first shot if I wanted a wider view like the 2nd photo but with the blurry background. Am I correct?

When I shot these I was going for the long lens view (pulling the mountains and road closer and bigger) and the wide view of expansiveness. Which is a new understanding for me, meaning I got what I wanted and knew which lenses to use.

My first two attempts didn’t work, the first time my background was way too complicated for the computer (and myself) to line up the photos correctly, the second one had holes, but the 3rd time I had all the pictures needed and Affinity Photo for IPad could line them all up correctly.
My daughter allowed me the extra time needed to try this technique. I’m hoping I remember to use the technique more often in other locations. :)

Bugs in flight are hard to capture, I'm impressed with the previous photos. I was lucky to get this one, I was on a kayak, it was holding the grass and it was windy. The wind hit just right and the dragonfly let go, flew and then grabbed the grass again.

I could do the Wednesday the 26th or Saturday the 29th. Anytime on either date. I too can bring lenses for others to try out. I have the 15mm laowa macro shift that others might not have.

If anyone can make it, let me know. I can also drive anyone from southern Maine. Meet at the Saco park and ride

I love this lens. I brought it to the beach for the zoom expecting to take pictures of the family building sand castles and swimming and of course the cute sea birds but I didn't know there would be whales feeding off the shore. The close up is cropped from the wider view photo, taken from the shore.

This bee was chilling after enjoying the oregano flowers. I liked the way it was holding onto the leaves above. The bees like to nap here too. I’m constantly finding them resting for long periods here

I noticed an ambush bug a few hours later on one of my garden plants. I thought that was funny. I didn’t get a good picture unfortunately, it was too windy and I couldn’t get focused on it

When you take the photo with a long shutter you change the focus as the shutter is open. I used a tripod, had a 1 or 1.5 second shutter and had the focus correct to start and then unfocused during the duration of the shot. Sometimes I started unfocused and then focused sometimes I did it fast or slow. I don’t know what worked best, but it was fun. Hope that helps.
