Pentax Extended Warranty

This is what I'm trying to know. I work at night these days so it is a bit hard to contact them live.

Thank you for replying. Yes, that is the warranty I'm talking about. I read the description. However, I've contacted the customer service and they assured me that it doesn't matter if I bought it after the camera but they didn't mention the 30 days limit and I didn't know about it either. Right now, Pentax is telling me that the warranty is not valid unless it was purchased within 30 days and that I have to provide both receipts.

Any idea?

Again, thank you for your help.

Yeah, I might get that instead. Right now though, I have a Ricoh warranty card that I've got from B&H. I didn't know about the 30 days limit and B&H didn't inform me about that limitation. I wonder if there is anything they could do about it.

Thank you for replying :)

Hi,

I've contacted Ricoh and they've informed me that they would only accept the warranty card if it was purchased within 30 days of the camera purchase date.

Any idea what I can do about that?

Thanks

I've tried Seattle and Hillsboro as well and both were very good. Goodwill Industries of SW Florida was good too in my experience. They've sent me a full refund when I showed them that the lens is bended unlike what their photos showed. I know that they should do a better job with their description and photos, but at least they were very polite and understanding.

Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona on the other hand, are professional thieves. They've replied to my support ticket in a rude way telling me to read their terms again and reminded me that I bought the lens as is. They've ended it by "Thank you for supporting our mission" and closed the ticket. I'm not sure what mission they've meant in this case! Anyway, they were right about the as is part. I've agreed to their terms before buying the lens.

My advice to anyone who buys anything used is to record a video while unboxing it and pay with PayPal whenever possible to get PayPal's buyer protection.

For me, I'm not buying from Goodwill anymore. It is better to buy from members here. They know their stuff better.

I've bough a lens from goodwill that looked good in pictures but when it came, it was unusable due to sticky dust. I couldn't remove the sticky dust from the barrel. The lens itself had a small amount of fungus which should be okay but the main problem is the sticky dust. I paid $50 which isn't bad but the lens went in the trash. Just be aware that all sales are final and that you're actually gambling since they know nothing about lenses. It you know how to apart and fix the lens and you have time for that, it might be worth it.

46 users can't be wrong! 96 can! Would that mean more or less discounts on K3II? We are seeing more and more discounts on Pentax products by everyday. Was it the FF announcement that caused that or is it something normal for Pentax gear?

Thank you for replying, Adam. It's been more than 30 days since I've bought that camera. I assume that Ricoh will ask about the extended warranty receipt as well as the camera receipt but I am not sure about that.

The following is my chat with B&H customer support:

QuoteQuote:

farhaddad : I have a Pentax camera that I didn't buy from B&H. However, it has been purchased from an authorized dealer, and it is still withen it's first year warranty. I would like to know if I can still buy the Pentax 2-year warranty on the following URL: Pentax 2-Year Extended Warranty for Pentax and Ricoh 85716 B&H

Kirk R: Hello Far. My name is Kirk and I will be glad to assist you. Please give me a few moments to begin working on your inquiry.

farhaddad: Hello Kirk, How are you today?

Kirk R: I'm doing well and yourself?

farhaddad: I'm doing well too, thanks.

Kirk R: Sorry for the delay. I'm still checking on this.

farhaddad: Don't worry, take your time. Thank you.

Kirk R: Thanks for your patience. You can definitely purchase the additional warranty from us.

farhaddad: Awesome. Thank you very much for your help.

Kirk R: Not a problem. Can I assist you with anything else at this time?

farhaddad: That is all. Again, thank you for your help. Have a wonderful day.

Kirk R: Have a wonderful day as well and thanks for choosing B&H. We appreciate your business.
Your session has ended.

Pentax Extended Warranty

Hello,

Recently, I've ordered Ricoh extended warranty card from your website. Customer support informed me that I can buy the extended warranty from B&H even if I've bought the camera from another authorized Pentax seller and that the only requirement is that the camera has to be within the first year of warranty.

I've received the card today and it says the following:

"1. This extended limited warranty is provided by RICOH IMAGING AMERICAS CORPORATION. It is not refundable nor transferable and is only valid if received at the time as the purchase of a new RICOH or PENTAX camera, which is covered by a Ricoh Imaging New Product One-Year Limited Warranty. This extended warranty applies only to the RICOH or PENTAX cameras distributed solely by the U.S. distributer, Ricoh Imaging Americas Corp., and purchased from a Ricoh Imaging authorized dealer in the United States."

As I've mentioned before, I've bought the camera from another US authorized dealer before I buy this extended warranty. Apparently Ricoh require that the purchase date of the extended warranty match the camera. What can I do about that?

Thank you,
Far

Yeah, it definitely makes a difference and it is worth doing even if you do not print out your photos.

Only the one who took the photo could tell which one is better. For me, 2 is over saturated and has more contrast on a calibrated screen. But then, it all depends on how the photo was taken and how it was supposed to look like.

No experience with this seller but since it is not sold by BestBuy but rather a seller in the marketplace, I would check the return policy before buying. Most likely gray market product but you can't beat the price.

manual lens problems on K3ii

That's how manual lenses are supposed to work. The lens has no electronic contacts to communicate with the camera and that's why you can't see the aperture number on the screen. I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say about exposure. You simply press the green button for metering but that's only a reference ( a start point) for you. You should change your shutter speed according to the scene. Think about it like using an old film camera with the ability to see the images you take and a built-in light metering. I use spot metering instead of centered weighted but as I've said before, metering in manual mode is just a start point for you and you should change your shutter speed according to the scene.

It is offered in the deal zone for Canon as well for the same price so I doubt it is a listing mistake.
