Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I'll get a quote from Eric on the repair. My copy of the lens is quite clean, so it's worth having a professional deal with it.

Greetings. It seems as though my 85 1.8 has some lethargic aperture blades. They look to be free of oil, so perhaps its an old spring? Has anyone needed to repair this lens in the past for the same issue? I'm wondering if this will require an expert, or if I can DIY the repair.
Cheers!
Eric

The DFA* 70-200 acts more like a 70-135 to me. I don't have a 200mm prime to compare it to, but my Sigma 75-200 3.8 AF has a noticeably longer reach at 200
The sharpness and focus accuracy of the DFA* easily lets you crop in quite a ways on the K1
Combine it with a limited 25-50 3.5 or something in a similar range

I'd appreciate a snappy AF 55mm 1.4! I like the image quality and rendering of my current DA* 55, and don't think I need the added size and weight of the upcoming D FA*
The motor on my DA* doesn't provide me much confidence

I love my DFA 70-200!
My main applications for this lens are portraits and events. When I'm getting paid - I don't care about weight.
I think the DFA 85 1.4 will have me lusting, but I'll probably acquire the K85 1.8 for something more compact when weight is more relevant

Looks Pentax to me...wouldn't the Leitax be a Nikon mount without the "A" on aperture dial?

I noticed a big improvement on my 55mm 1.4 when I jumped from the K3 to the K1. The DFA 70-200 also focuses faster on my K1 compared to the K3.
My only screw drive AF is the 35 2.4 which is quite snappy on the k1

A fair review! A bit disappointed to see the DFA 70-200 has focus breathing issues.
Although at 36mpx, it's not hard to crop tighter

My 55* feels at home on the K1. Focus isn't lightning fast, but is more accurate than my k3
I use it with a hood outdoors, no noticeable vignetting

The Looking Glass in Berkeley had two yesterday until I arrived and purchased one.
They should still have one that you can order on their website DSLR : Looking Glass Photo & Camera |

Well... Ritz was incorrect with their "In Stock - Ships in 1 Business Day" note on their website. It took a lot of effort to get ahold of a customer service rep, but it looks like there were 12 orders placed for the 1 camera available.
After calling around, The Looking Glass in Berkeley had two in stock. Drove an hour and got my K1!
Very happy with the cameras' functionality compared to my k3

Ritz is now saying back ordered.
Hopefully it was truly in stock when I placed my order yesterday.

Are there no focus breathing issues with the Pentax DFA* 70-200?

Any known domestic retailer with a K-1 in stock? Trying to get one by June 3rd
Looks like amazon, BH, and adorama are all sold out.

Hopefully the 55* is a complete FF performer. Seems like it might just have a little vignetting wide open, but a lot of fast 50's do

My justification for upgrading from my k3
In the studio - Sync speed is nice, but more importantly the wifi, tethering, tilt screen, and bigger files for printing
Outdoors - tilt screen, gps astro, bigger prints
Overall - better focal lengths with my current lenses (SMC-A 28mm F2, DA 55mm 1.4, DA 35mm 2.4, 100mm WR Macro
Not a video guy at the moment, but maybe the next model would be 4k and IBIS.

As a photographer, I'd rather get my K-1 soon and download a simple firmware update a few months down the road for video.
Perhaps Pentax will take a page out of Fuji's handbook - even updating older gen cameras to create a longer lasting product.

Are there any image samples out from this lens? Wondering how it stacks up against the similarly priced sony/canon/nikon lenses

What about neither, and get the 35mm 2.4. Then you have a light-weight normal wide, and a heavier faster wider lens?

Can confirm, used this lens of my a7r and it worked wonderfully. Sold the camera but eager to use this lens on the full frame pentax. My only quirk with the lens is it seems to hesitate on the first AF attempt after the camera is turned on. Otherwise, the image quality and build quality are excellent.

Was really hoping for some special OVF technology like an EVF/info overlay. Looks like a solid camera so far though!
Maybe Sigma will start porting over some lenses to K-mount

Awesome! I'll look into that type of card to see if it can send raw files or .dng
Hopefully C1 will be able to auto import as well. It's my preferred editor for colors.
Thanks for the help

Hello,
I switched from Fuji (XT1) over to the K-3 for the durability, battery life, and OVF. My main use for this camera is product photography, more specifically wine bottles. I also shoot events and winery landscapes and have been using the 17-70 sigma but just ordered a 20-40 limited to replace it.
Since I'm doing a lot of bottle photography in the studio, and often in high volume, I'd like the option to tether into Capture One, or lightroom if necessary. It seems that this isn't an option with a wired tether. Would the wifi card be able to send .dngs to capture one in a workflow situation?
