Weekly Challenge Weekly Challenge #630, abstract patterns or textures

Camera is a PENTAX K-S2, Lens, Sigma 80 to 300 zoom, Focal length is 240mm, f-stop is f5.6, ISO 100, Exposure time is 1/250. I chose this photograph for my entry because it tells a story. The patterns on a face are random but each line, crease or scar tell the story of a life. In the eyes of this old man, the memories of his life are expressed, it is not only a reflection of his soul but a mixture of joy, pain, suffering and good time shinning out from within. This old man is not homeless, he spent his life on fishing trawlers. I ran into him sitting alone on a park bench and spent some time listening to the stories of his life.

I do hope this photograph will suffice.

I Need help with the digital camera utility please!

Greetings,
Friends, fellow Pentaxians,
I ask is if there is anyone who can help me out with the Digital Camera Utility Suite please.
My disk for the utility suite was damaged and I replaced my PC. The problem is that I cant reload my utility suite as a result.
I have searched on line and there is just nothing available to download besides updates.
I purchased my Pentax in 2013, yes it is 10 years old and still going strong. This is for me a crisis as I have no one that I know who has a Pentax Camera in my area and I reside outside the USA and Europe.
I would really appreciate any help that anyone is prepared to lend.
Blessings.

Pentax K-70 Giveaway Freedom is a Relative thing, Joy is from within

I would love to own the Pentax K-70. In my early days I used a Pentax MK ii, I had my own dark room that I would process my photographs in. I only used reverse negatives and black and white. I would select and print both the reverse negative and the black and white photos that I selected, mounted them and sold them. It was a tough way to make a living. I could not afford to purchase a new camera until 2015, for 30 years I used my Pentax MK II then in 2015 I was given a gift of money that made it possible for me to go digital and naturally my first choice was Pentax. However the best that I could afford was the Pentax K-S2 and it has served me well. I do not have the means to afford a new camera, and the Pentax K-70 would cost more than I make in 11 months. So for me this is a sincere wish.

Architecture Searching for Symmetry

I have tried to capture the emotion that I felt when taking these photographs. I find that very often it is not the picture that invokes emotion but the symmetry within the picture. I have tried here to demonstrate that aspect of photography. However the proof of success or failure is in the eye of the beholder.

Hi,
I feel that the Pentax family of cameras can do with a new name for the new DSLR camera. I would like to recommend "PENTAX RAPTOR" or "R 1"
How about some fun?
Sincerely Marreus

Pentax K-S2 > where can I find the "image sync" app?

I have a Pentax KS 2 and the most frustrating thing for me is I don't have an android or an I phone.....
So what is Ricoh playing at?
This app should be available to every one weather on PC or Laptop, Blackberry or Windows phone. What is the point of using the app as a marketing catch if not everyone can use it????
Canon and Nikon make these apps available across the board so why not Ricoh?????
Please tell me that you can email me the software that I can install it anywhere I need it and don't be such a bunch of sadists!!!!!

Guys, it is very useful to operate the S2 remotely via a laptop. I am going to look into this android emulator story and see what I come up with if I am successful I will post my results. As far as using it with a smartphone goes, well I use a Blackberry Z10 and I am afraid that there are no apps to help me there unless someone out there is using a Z10 with their S2. I would love to know.
Thanks.

Slip and wibbly mentioned lighting, I do a lot of low light photography and when I used canon it was a case of setting the correct film speed, f/stop and then always on bulb. Please don't get me wrong I am a Pentax man but canon dslr cameras were more easily accessible for me. As soon as Pentax became available I went back....but wow Pentax is a whole new machine to learn. I have used the same settings on my Pentax that I did with Canon and the pictures were all washed out. So now about lighting I have a KS 2 and there are shadow and highlight adjustment functions on the camera, unfortunately the users guide does not give enough info so I will ask. Should I use these functions in low light or leave them off, I cant decide. Could anyone tell me what their opinion is please?

Folks thank you so much for sharing you experience with me it helps so much. Now another question, when you sell your work, what is the main trend at the moment is it digital art or pictures?
Also what subjects do you find are the most sought after?
I am exploring new avenues. I know this is a touchy area, so if you are willing to divulge this then I would be very grateful.

Hi Folks, in the good old days we had a dark room, what fun that was, yet today we do digital developing. I have a little struggle with this concept, there are so many tools that make it easy to manipulate a bad photograph that it seems like the art has been taken out of the snap. My conscience is eating at me and I don't know if I am being a little harsh on myself, I have become lazy when I take my photo's because the urgency for producing good work off the bat has been taken out of the equation because I know that I can correct the mistakes during development.......oh but to add that was when I was using the Canon EOS range, Pentax is a completely different baby and I am really glad that I moved back. Now for the question, on average how much time do you spend on post editing and development of your images in time and what is the most frequent adjustment you make to an image?
I would love to know.
Thank you all.

Bokeh

Hi all, I am new to the Pentax digital scene, yet way back when I was a tot my camera case consisted of 3 Pentax KM 2's......those were the fun days when I used to go and shoot then rush back to my darkroom to develop the negatives and see what I had captured.
However I find myself in a bit of an argument with some other photographers and perhaps you could shed some light on this subject.
Bokeh in my opinion, is not strictly speaking a photographic style but more a lens effect popularised in 1997 in Photo Techniques magazine, when Mike Johnston published an article on using bokeh as a means to draw the observers attention to a subject. Computer graphics developers cottoned onto the idea to use the effect as a wallpaper so that desktop images are more visible. When used in the IT industry it it is very much a style, yet it appears that the international Photographic community does not accept Bokeh as a photographic style and as yet and it seems that it is regarded only as an aesthetic quality within a photograph. I would like to know if anyone can clarify this for me please.
