Good to be here Beachgardener and Patrick thanks, It doesnt bother me to much now Patrick, i see what your saying, over the last few weeks i dont pay much attention to it now, I think bob will become my sidekick until i do a refurb. I had a shot of a K1000 in the 90s so that sort of swayed me, it was the choice of the K1000 or Nikon FM2 both have a cult following over here but more so the FM2 so prices for lenses where more expensive, so decided to go for the K1000 so i can experiment with different lenses at affordable prices and get a good camera at the same time , would like to pick up an fm2 as a second camera in the future though .

Hi all, just thought id introduce myself. Im a Scotsman by heart but live in Ireland with my wife and our son so happy days. I own a Nikon DSLR, but recently i wanted to go back and use Film as well, so i have now purchased a Asahi Pentax K1000 which came with SMC Pentax-M 1:2 50 mm lens, serial number 6675149. I will register this on your Database over the next couple of days.I used the database to get some info on serial numbers before buying which came in handy so thanks all. Anyway i have only been doing photography as a hobby the last couple of years, enjoy portrait, done a few courses on digital photography but just the basics really, so still new to this. Now as for film, had the old point and shoots over the years but this is my first manual camera and love it, but complete beginner, so hopefully id be able to get some advice on this forum. As i have only just got the camera im still testing it out, everything seems fine, and it seems to be in good condition, apart from that there was a tiny mark when looking through the viewfinder, i took the lens off and still there, i took it to a camera shop that is well known and he gave it a blast of air and small clean, he said it is trapped above and cannot get access unless refurbished by someone who deals in this camera, as he cant do it as would need to be taking apart at the top to get access, he thinks it is a tiny dead insect that got trapped inside, as he told me it is barely noticeable and would not come out on the prints, so anyway called him bob and he is stuck there till i get him out! If anyone has any ideas on how to free dead bob im open to suggestions . As for film i am only on my second roll and shooting black and white, I got Ilford FP4 35mm, 36 exp. 125 ISO / ASA for the first film and is now getting developed and am now using Ilford HP5 400iso / asa 35mm 36exp for my second to try out, didnt realise the price of developing, jesus, will need to look into developing myself at some point! so thats me, anyway hope you all have a great day.:)
