Just to level set things. Rupert was kind enough to let me post some pics from my new lens. The above were with a Sigma Sport 150-600 on the front of a D750.

Here's what I found to be the best set up.
Back button focus.
9 point focus.
I used a tri pod and kept the ball head some what loose so I could follow the critters.
I shot in manual mode and used Auto ISO and set aperture on the lowest and shutter @1/1250 - 1/2000. I found this to be the best set up. If I was moving my lens with the bird (side to side) I could even drop as low as 1/800th of a second to drop my ISO a little more. Hope that helps.
My grammar sucked above....lol. My lens was back focusing so I adjusted for that in camera and it helped with the sharpness a ton. My particular lens can be set to prioritize speed of focus over accuracy. I now have it set for that.

First day out was really frustrating....definitely a learning curve. The morning of this day I adjusted for back focus and helped a bunch. Since then I adjusted the focus for speed, added a T/C and upgraded my sd cards... can;t wait get out again

So far i'm real happy with the 24-120. I think the 24-120 could be a great landscape lens. I wanted something a little wider. My Sigma 20mm ART arrives tomorrow. Rokinon 14 on monday. I love my 10-20 and 10-17 with my K3...so wanted to get as wide.
Hearing LOTS of great things about Tamrons 15-30 as well. A little pricey at $1100.

I've only had the D750 since Saturday. But from what I have seen so far....those K3 owners may be comparing specs only. The D750 is in a different class then my K3. I had some useable pictures at 12,800 ISO the other day. From what i've see so far....my wifes D7100 smokes the K3. I think a lot of that was the lens itself.
The other area that takes the D750 to an entirely different playing field is lens selection. The first time I shot birds I obtained a level of detail from the pictures I couldn't get with the K3 and 50-500 OS/HSm etc.
I actually was seconds away from pulling the trigger on a 150-450 and t/c to the tune of $2500. I was really concerned that even with the FF coming out the other lens manufactures still wouldn't start producing some nice lens for Pentax. I decided to use the $$ towards moving to Nikon. I almost got the 810....but felt it was overkill. I visited with a Tamron rep the week before and they stated they have no plans to start making some of their popular lenses for Pentax. Even if the FF launched tomorrow.... they would need to see what the sales would be to even ponder Pentax adoption.
Sigma...same thing.
I ordered a Sigma ART 20mm, Rokinon 14mm, and a Sigma 150-600 sport yesterday. Can;t wait to start shooting with them

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The add was bumped we with care,
in hopes that the Bigma soon would find a new home :

Picked up Nikon D750 and 24-120 Saturday. Ordering a Sigma 150-600 sport.
Need some help deciding on a fast wide lens.
The new Tamron 15-30?
Is a Sigma 20mm ART wide enough on a FF?
Pondering a ART 20 and then a Samyang/Rokinon 14

Will do.. sorry. ---------- Post added 12-21-15 at 06:59 AM ----------
I didn't believe there is enough actual light for K3 to autofocus at all with the 2.0 on. Unless I'm wrong.... even with the HSM the autofocus will not work.
The HSM needs info from the camera .... I've only had the lens for couple months....if i'm missing something holler.
It's possible under bright conditions it would work....but we lack Sun here in the PNW this time of year.
i believe the sigma website confirms the above ---------- Post added 12-22-15 at 08:42 AM ---------- Sold some items
Sigma and T/C remain. Open to offers :)

$1075 for the lens ....
From the one time I tried it...auto focus didn't work at all on my K3 with the T/C. It does have HSM

Kind of... 100% manual focus only. I have only used it once and it was okay. It was very cold out and I didn't spend much time messing with it. I only bought the lens about 2.5 months ago from Adorma...Both Teleconverters were purchased after that.

Lol... can't right fully blame the squirrels.... i'll try and post some new pics tonight.
One thing I (and my squirrels) need help with is. How do i kill a rat and not hurt my other critters ? Probably going to go the pellet gun approach.....but was wondering on any other methods. Hoping to make an example out of this one so his pals get the hint
