I usually don't look at the sender until I have digested the information and it's great to see all you guys from Europe and Canada on the forum. Thanks for your viewpoints. Of course, today, with our computers we're all in the same 'room'. Ed

Drypenn, love those shots. Question...the first one...was that shot using a smart effect?

Wow. You guys really respond. You gave me a lot of information that seems right on. I have gotten the upgrade offers before but I thought it to be a little pricey, especially considering the hard time I had adapting to Silky. I think the translation issue is very true, sometimes I just shake my head when I click on a link. I don't know if this is a display issue for only myself but I also find the boxes very hard to read against the backgrounds, unlike Elements or LR. I'm in the process of installing on new machines so I was trying to streamline. I probably will put all the versions in and see what they will and won't do and then sort it out. What I really need to do is figure out what camera brand I like best and sell off the others. Let's see... I'm 63 now and if I live 'till ???...

I have a Q7 and 2 Q's. Also happen to have an A5000. I love the Q's portability and am considering a month long trip with the 7 and the 02 and the Q with the 06. I would cover a decent range and never change lenses. Put one in each jacket pocket. However, someone said if you only have one camera go with the Sony. It depends on what you want to do with your final product but here's an observation. I took the A5000 out for a walk around our mountain with the stock 16-50mm lens on it. I shot some meaningless pics and one was of my truck from about 25 yards. I can enlarge that shot and read the expiration stickers on my license plate. I can't even read the state name on a shot taken with the Q and the 02. I haven't tried it yet with the Q7 and same lens but just saw this posting tonight. Granted, apples and oranges. A 20 mp APS-C sensor is clearly in a different league. But I took my original Q to Berlin a few years ago and took a shot there of the Brandenburg gate in 'tone expansion' that is now a 20 x 30 on my wall. Everybody that sees that print wants a copy. I would like to experiment with the Sony more but I just don't want to start another lens system to go with Canon and MFT stuff.

Hi, guys. I have Pentax, Olympus and Panasonic systems. They all come with Silkypix and I'm wondering if there are differences in the supplied software for specific cameras? I'm not talking about version updates. I'd like to know if it's possible to load the latest version I have and use it for all cameras or do I really need to have 3 programs loaded up on my computers?

Hi, guys. This post is so close to the question I had I just want to jump in here rather than start another one. I thought I read somewhere that the Q smart effects could be applied in PP, which I took to mean Silkypix.
Narual, your answer leads me to believe you're talking about doing the conversion in camera, is that correct? I have a Q7 and 2 original Q's and I love the smart effects. I would like to be able to just go out and shoot everything in RAW and then come back and in PP convert some of the images to 'Tone Expansion', my favorite effect.
If it can't be done in PP does the in camera conversion have to be done after every shot or can you go back at the end of a day and selectively convert pictures from the memory card? I don't have my stuff with me right now or I would try it. I'm taking a trip in 3 weeks and still trying to sort out if the Q's will be all I need or do I carry something bigger?

Hi, all. I'm just starting here on the site but I've been into photography for about 30 years. I'm going to post some questions re: Silkypix and the 'Q' system so I'd appreciate any help you can offer.... Thanks in advance...Ed
