Espio mini problem

Hi,
I have a pentax espio mini that has worked for ages but now when I put the film in it doesn't let me take photos. It rolls the film in and displays the number 1 on the screen so I do not think the battery is the problem however it does not let me enter the date. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thank you
