I always tell she who must be obeyed when she complains when I want new gear you have a gas cooker, an electric hob, a microwave oven, an air fryer, a slow cooker. They all cook food but in different ways and cameras and lens are the same. Does it work, most times it does but it never pays to mention the price!

Out and about yesterday to photograph one of the new Poseidon aircraft belonging to the Royal Air Force, there were three other people there one with a Canon one with a Nikon, me with my K3iii and another with a Pentax ME Super.
Talking to him he told me he had only ever owned one other camera, a K1000 which he sold years ago. The ME Super was the replacement, bought new and used continuously since then and the only problem he’d encountered was the light seal on the door leaking which he replaced around a month ago which is excellent going for a camera he bought around 40 years ago.
He told me he had no desire to go digital but he was becoming concerned at the cost of film and development plus the inconsistency he found between developers.
It was great talking to him and great to find another Pentaxian.

Thank you to everyone who responded especially Rider0974 for the very kind offer.
The information given was very helpful and based on that I managed by luck to find and buy a FA 28-70 f/4 in great condition for the princely sum of £15.00 GBP from a local charity shop.
Once again thank you to all who responded.

Thank you everyone for your input, going on what you’ve said I’m going to stick with my Sigma for the time being. Ideally I would like the DFA 150-450 but that’s going to take a lottery win.
BigMacCam is correct about the weather here in the North East of the UK, and even my KP a with the 55-300plm can struggle at times.
Once again thank you all

I live in the North East of England and have only ever seen one other Pentax user but I did find a Nikon user who was very impressed with my KP especially when it started to rain !

Many thanks to everyone that took the time to reply.
I’m not buying the lens, instead I’m going to look at buying a prime lens instead.
Once again thank you all.

I have a Pentax DA 4.5 -6.3 55-300 ED PLM WR RE lens and the zoom on it is quite stiff certainly more so than any other lens I own and it gets noticeably worse in hot weather.
Its not causing a major problem at the minute so I'm wondering are they all like this, perhaps its the weather seals doing it, if their not then is there anything I can do to free it off a little.
If I point any of my other zooms from Sigma etc towards the ground they will extend themselves but the Pentax does not.
Any feedback gratefully received.
Regards Barry
