The physics are the physics. So the issue becomes, like all photography, one of maximum aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. To me, a small difference between 35mm and MF digital. Especially, with the Z that you can st the ISO to 1600 without detriment. The article edges to large format where the parameters are more constraining due to maximum f.stops of 5.6, 6.3, or 8, depending on the lens and film speeds. Then you add portraiture, where slow shutter speeds become an issue. Recently, I invited my sisters over for a shoot. Ideally, I would have used my 4x5 and Rodenstock 240mm f.8. But, with natural light and Portra 160, it was a no go. I ended up using the Z, the 105mm f.2.4 67 at ISO 800.

I vote for the A35 also. Great lens; especially for night photography.

I second that. The 200mm for is a great lens for the price. Light weight and sharp.

I stitch a lot, so end up with 100mp or larger files already. I'd be more interested in mirrorless. That would give the ability to use the camera as a digital back on a view camera. Currently, that's the only reason that I'm looking at the Fujis.

I believe that you are correct. It's just hard to not have it around.

My Z has been ultra reliable for close to 4 years that I've had it. Recently, I've been getting this error message. If first showed up about two months ago. I thought it may be the cards, so I bought some new ones. When I put them in, the camera worked fine. Yesterday, the message appeared again. I tried many cards in SD slot #1 and the message remained. Then, I moved the card that has been in SD2 to SD1 and the "Memory Card Error SD1" message remained. Then I put some of the cards that didn't work in SD1 to SD2 and they worked fine. Any suggestions or similar experiences would be most helpful.

I have the 150-300. I'm not crazy about the image quality. I would take the 67 105mm with me. Love that lens. For mid-range, think about the 200mm FA. It's light weight, and sharp. BTW, I was in Alaska and the Yukon in the fall. I took the Hartblei 45mm super rotator, 45-85mm, the 105mm, 120mm FA Macro200mm, 1.4 converter and the 300mm FA 5.6. I came home wishing that I would've had a better tele solution. The FA 5.6 is just a stop too slow for bears evening feeding. I don't need a real wide angle because I stitch. Sold my 35mm FA. Also, I'm not sure that I used the 45-85mm at all. It is great for group portraits and street photography.

I want to give an alternative viewpoint on the Hartblei. 45mm T/S. I have been using it for two years and love it. It had been my favorite lens on my Z until I got the 67 105mm 2.4. It's just 'something' about that 105mm. With my Hartblei lens, I am not experiencing the lack of corner sharpness that others are. I may have been lucky and got a good version. Learning to use it well has been a journey though. Also corner sharpness is less of an issue for me because I stitching a lot with that lens; one of the reasons for getting the lens.

I traded with a friend for a 645N that she had just purchased off ebay. I had those same problems. I tried 3 different film inserts. A few times it would work and then the problem again. Luckily, we were able to return the camera to the seller. My main camera is a Z and it really hurt to lose rolls of film.

Yes, I'm in DC. Hirshhorn, pretty cool. It's one of my favorite places on the Mall. Have always loved the sculpture garden. If I may ask, what to you do for them? ---------- Post added 09-08-17 at 09:57 PM ----------
I tried creating a night vision User Mode. I renamed User 1 as Night. Set shutter speed, ISO, and night vision display. And saved. The Z retained all in the user mode; except the nigh vision display. Oh well.

I recently updated to firmware 1.30 for night vision display. It got me to thinking about being able to activate it with one button; not going through menus. What is the process of button customization on the Z? How flexible is it? I rarely need to go into the menus when out shooting. But, night vision peeked my interest in customization.

Now, I've seen a video on youtube about focusing a tilt/shift. Focus the near using the focusing ring and tilt to get the far in focusing. Do this cycle three times to get all in focus. If the mid-ground is out of focus, stop down.

I don't try to shoot birds much with the Z. But on those rare occasions, I'll use the 300mm f5.6 and the 1.4 TC.

I agree with all but the first sentence. I do a lot of stitching in my photography. Shift provides an reliable and efficient method of adding another row of panels. My primary motivation for getting a T/S lens was to use tilt to be able to extend depth of field in my landscape photography. It had been 'hit and miss' until I discovered a T/S app. It provides a calculation of the amount of tilt to use. So after owning the lens for 2 years, I am beginning to get controlled results.
