Shopping at Adorama & Shipping to Alaska

Okay, before this gets any further out of control ... here's the situation:

Adorama sells things on Ebay; one has to take advantage of prices when they're available. Since we have to pay shipping, it shouldn't matter to Adorama if we buy directly from the online webstore or through one of their many Ebay auctions ... if I can afford to pay the prices on the website for what I need, then I will (and no, I'm not asking for free shipping to Alaska). But I really don't understand why it's different buying it from Adorama on Ebay ... I'm attaching a screen shot to make my point.

Thanks, Adam — shoot, I'm not even asking for free shipping ... :D the only way I get that is through Amazon Prime ... it paid for itself the first three months up here!

I hate to start off this way, but maybe my complaint will get some support from those of you who DO shop at Adorama. Here's the problem, briefly:

ADORAMA DOESN'T LIKE TO SHIP TO ALASKA.

I would LOVE to support them, because their prices (both new and on Ebay) are usually pretty competitive. But they seem to be absolutely intransigent about NOT shipping up here.

Guys, we have one and half camera shops in Fairbanks. I say that, because one of them is only open when the owner feels like. Neither of them are terribly competitive (of course, we also have to pay the "Alaska tax" since everything has to be flown or boated in here!). So mail order and auction are pretty much it.

So if any of you have any pull with them, PLEASE ask them to help out up here?

Thanks — I promise not to whine and whinge anymore.

About to receive a new-to-me 645 body; about to get a 75mm lens to go with it. More lenses as time and money allow ...

Not new to medium format (or photography, for that matter, having worked with everything from 35 mm to 8x10, including Polaroid 4x5 & 8x10), just new to the Pentax flavor of medium format. Right now, the working stable is down to a Crown Graphic 4x5 (with 2 Polaroid 405 holders), a Zeiss Ikontamesse 6x9 Ikonta folder, a Clipper 6x18 pinhole pano, a modified Holgapan 6x12 (modified with a helicoid focus 100mm lens), Olympus OM-1, Olympus Stylus, an early Canon Elph digital, a Panasonic G5, a bunch of Zuiko with µ4/3 adapters as well as an assortment of Panasonic and Oly µ4/3 lenses for the G5 ... and all are functioning shooters. Some of them I am willing to part with ... just ask me and we can work something out.

Mainly shooting to print alt processes: VanDyke Brown and cyanotype, moving into gum-bichromate this fall. I also do mixed print media (intaglio, woodblock, linocut) with various photo processes, too.

Hoping to get some pointers about the systems itself and maybe snag some goodies in the "For Sale" forum.
