The K-3 at 24mp and the K-1 at 36mp. Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears to me that the K-3 and the K-1 have the same size pixels. If a larger pixel size equals better high ISO performance, then these two cameras should be the same or similar for noise? However, I can shoot at 6400 ISO on my K-3, and get less noise on my K-1 at 20,000 ISO. Where am I in error?

What kind of cloth would you suggest. I suspect your suggestion - renault- is the most likely, there is some dust or dirt in the slot. Blowing out with a rocket blower has not worked.

Good idea. Tried blowing out with a rocket blower and unfortunately there was no change.
My problem occurs with 64GB and 32GB cards.
The cards appear to work correctly in my K-3.
And no problem in slot 1.

I am an amateur enthusiast type user.
I have the K-3 and recently acquired the K-1. To go with the K-1, I bought the Pentax 15-30, 24-70 and 70-200 all 2.8 lenses, and I still can't answer the question with certainty. I love both of the cameras.
I use my K-3 if I am going on a tight trip and feel pressed for space. I use the K-3 for faster action - sports and bird and animal photography. For these I like the K-3 better. I have a Sigma 50-500 that I use with the K-3. It is not a fast lens but I turn up the ISO and use it at 6.3. The K-3 takes and stores raw files a little faster for catching action.
I use the K-1 for most other activities. I am looking forward to using and processing Pixel Shift Resolution as well.
To sum it up finally. If you have the funds do it. It is a lot of fun and life is short. If funds are tight, do not do it.

Thanks for the replies. Will try all of the suggestions. I was very close with the focus test, but was able to focus manually. Manual focus was spot on. No front or back focus issue. Pun intended. You are correct, I do need to use manual focus on macro, especially with focus stacking. My eyes don't work so well with manual focus, but they should be adequate. I will test the front and back focus again at a little greater distance with the 55mm before I attempt to adjust the camera settings for the lens. I am hoping that the single test allows me to select the lens by focal length, as I would hate to adjust for all lenses as the others all work. Just bought the 70-200 Pentax and tested it as well. Works very nicely. I think this is going to be a beautiful lens as it is fast (2.8), focuses relatively quickly(hopefully as fast as I need), and appears to be very sharp.

Good idea. I have no idea why I didn't think of that. Will report back either way after the next photo session, probably within two weeks.

I get this message almost every time I take the camera out. Usually more than 40 photographs.
Memory card error card slot 2.
Not yet had it on slot 1.
Occurs on different cards and manufacturers and high quality cards.
Turn off and on usually removes the problem for that day of shooting.
Sometimes need to leave it off for a few seconds more for a second time then it is okay.

Tested K-1 with Pentax 15-30 and 24-70. Manual and AF right on.
Tested with Pentax 55mm. Front focus problem about 0.5 inch focus in front of AF focus point. Manual focus okay. Close focus distance as I want to take photos of plants with focus stacking.
How do I adjust for this one lens? Menu items are greyed out.
I purchased the K-1 for its versatility and flexibility, so now I want to take advantage of these features.

Thanks for identifying. I have a lot of these in my garden and field. Unfortunately, I don't see many really colorful butterflies. ---------- Post added 08-15-15 at 09:21 AM ----------
I didn't know that, so thanks for the additional information.

Bee.
The direction of the light was just right to capture the colours of the bee and the rich magenta of the plant.

Bee and pollen.
It was quite windy and bright. I used aperture priority so I could manage the DOF. Set ISO to 800 to keep the shutter speed fast enough to help freeze the movement from the wind.
Quite like the 100mm Macro lens.

K-3 with smc Pentax-D FA Macro 100mm F/2.8 WR. I quite like the lens.
This bee was taken on a windy day in bright sunlight. I used AF/C and had some difficulty so I am going to try the ideas presented here.
1/5000sec at F/6.3 ISO 800. ISO was set to 800 so I could fix the aperture and still retain a high shutter speed.
I had originally set out to capture some wildflowers (weeds) in the back pasture, but I ended up chasing insects.

New to any kind of forum, here is hoping this is posted correctly.
Recent purchase of a K-3. Have owned quite a number of Pentax film and digital cameras over the years, the K-3 is the best camera that I have used.
Lenses:
10-20 Sigma
18-135 Pentax
18-270 Pentax
100 Macro (very nice lens)
55 f/1.4 (very nice lens)
Enjoy animals, portraits and flowers. Will now be trying landscapes and architecture with the use of Lightroom and Photoshop CC.
