Well I took the plunge and bought the 18-135WR and, going by a couple of quick snaps that I took to check that it worked OK, it looks like a good decision. All the photos are nice and sharp and I like the way that it handles, plus that Scottish essential of waterproofing. Thanks for the advice.

I had a look at the link. Some really nice shots on there and I like the idea of a quieter focus as a bonus. ---------- Post added 09-09-15 at 04:23 PM ----------
I don't think the 16-85 would have the reach that I want, but I'll need to check it out anyway. I'm in danger of having too many lenses as it is! ---------- Post added 09-09-15 at 04:30 PM ----------
I've been looking at a few forums and really like this one. It seems very active with lots of advice and information. I've heard that New Zealand can be a bit like the UK for weather, but I see that you're in one of the drier areas.

Of course! I think you'll find plenty of good photo opportunities in Scotland.

I recently decided to rekindle my interest in photography, now that I have more free time. I'm very much a beginner and am enjoying learning how to use my K50. I also have a Nikon D3300, but find that using the Pentax gives me a buzz that the Nikon doesn't. Most of my photography is of the outdoor variety so having a weather sealed camera makes all the difference. Has anyone used the 18-135 WR Pentax lens? I'm looking for an all rounder for general use in all weathers. I have the 2 kit lenses 18-55 and 55-200, 35mm , 50mm and 55-300. They are all pretty good, but I think an all rounder would serve me well for most occassions.
