Got it today and could test it, it's a huge upgrade from K-5... viewfinder brighter, bigger, better back screen, better ergonomy, better sensor ISO 800 has almost no noise... etc.
I got it in mint condition, sensor free of any dust, focusing screen awefull, 2 pentax Batteries with the grip, 9700 actuations, the firmware offers only japanese or english, but english is better for me than french,
so I changed my K-5 language to english, will just see if I have to update firmware currently v1.41
Bought from Germany very good screens protection with mate surface for my both K :) 8€ each, I'll buy next month 2 extreme or pro Sandisk 64 Go SDXC, extreme is enough I think for the K-3.
Only missing USB3.0 cable but I have already one, and japanese user manual, realy all mint, the leather belt has never been used. Good deal IMO
but here in France, import taxes are very high, around 22% so I had to pay a bit more.
Just a question : what is the import taxes in USA and why some japan pro seller don't ship to USA ???

OK, that's good anyway because the K-3 I will receive today has no AA filter, so upon the type of shooting I do, for small paterns an clothes for example, I'll use the K-5 and the K-3 will allow ultra sharp shooting with some of my FF MF K/KA set (I currently have 12 lenses, only 3 are AF with a WR 18-55 and WR ED 50-200 :) Gonna have other jewels (My 28mm Exacta is one of them) for free thanks to a passionate vintage photo & cinema stuff, a museum project in TOULON ^^

Meanwhyle, where do you get the rectangle pics with camera models as signature ?
I'll have a X-5, a K-5 and a K-3, the K-1 or K-3 mark III will be bought when my business makes enough profits.

Does the K-5 has an AA filter like the K-5 II ?
If no, that would be excellent, because the K-5 do not have the double shot bug and would have same sharpness as the K-5 IIs :)

I"m starting as pro photographer + pro computer services so I'll probably have enough cash in 6 months to first buy a K1 and then a K3 mark III
Thanks to an passionate vintage photo and cinema collector I will get very rare lenses like a 300mm (don't know yet the brand) and a 20mm, he also have some Leica lenses :) and I get that for free because I help
them to build up a vintage stuff social website, mainly photo & cinema but also hi-fi and computers...

I don't have any C6 menu, only have C1 to C4... could it be a firmware not updated ? I have K-5 (no II or IIs)

You are certainly right for K1 vs K3 mark III but same, why I will need a K1 is because 90% of my 12 lenses are FF and a 24mm is nice on the K1 :)
I have a friend who collects all vintage photo stuff, he has very rare lenses and some are K mount. He told me about a 20mm FF maybe Leica or something like that.

The ones I saw at these price have no 2nd batterie and have more than 50.000 actuations, that's why I chosed this one, from a japanese pro shop.
New on Amazon they are sold at 1999 € in standard edition without grip !
I also chosen this one to impress my customer, the look & feel is more pro than ordinary black K3 :)

I'm going to have a K3 this week, limited silver edition with grip, all accessories and leather collar instead of the black one, around 9000 actuations, was an exposition/demo camera... for 700$
Just wanted to know if it was a good deal vs an expensive mark III. Is the mark III realy better when the main concern (mine) is IQ and ergonomy + MTBF ?
Have all a nice Pentecote sunday, thanks for any special infos on the K3 vs K3 mark III and also K5 vs K3 that I would not know yet (2 SD slots, 24.3 Mpixel...)

Having this precious information and digging on other brands forum, I confirm that aceton is probably the best chemical to clean a Sony K5/5ii/5iis sensor.
If it lets still tiny marks, you can clean them with a dry good quality cotton, but you need a good LED flash light and working google to see exactly when the senser is fully looking as mint.
Testing at F18, I saw only 2 points that seems more to be tiny dust than prints, they will go away after several power off/on.

realy ? In this case you can probably use aceton which is very volatile and leaves no prints...
Does it have the same properties as for exemple glass lenses ?
If so, you can use aceton as long as there is no coating on this glass.
Didn't know the K5 sensor was made by Sony...

I digged on the web and you know what ?
One company selling wet cleaning kits just use pure methanol... this is the one you use to ignite fire for barbecues...
I already have great drugstore medical cotton that leaves 0 fibers, droped a bit methanol on it, waited it to evapore a bit, used it,
made a second pass with the same dry cotton and voilà ! My sensor is like new !
I also could buy 100% ether but this not for sensor at all, but can be great on glass lenses that have no coating, it's a bit strong but you can remove alcohols marks with it,
very volatile, you can use it to clean your LCD screen also.
White vinegar is also good (acetic acid) but you have to dry it with glasses cleaning silk, it's not enough volatile.
Got all these infos from drugstores experts.

There are very few differences with the Vivitar Series 1 Gen.2 (Tokina), the IQ is almost the same, maybe 5% slower ?
This one has been taken w/o filter or hood, no post process, just JPG conversion...

Thanks for these very helpfull infos, indeed, SR fixed to a focal length can be a problem with a zoom... Gonna turn it off :)
For exif, the most usefull info I need is the aperture on KA lenses and the speed too.
I just removed SR and it's great ! Thanks.

I guess this is for the SR function but I don't realy need it, I don't shake :p
I want to shoot directly after power on.
And this information makes no sense on a zoom....

A good new friend is a vintage camera and lenses collector, he can repair everything, even bodies, he has the cleaning kit and will do that for me :)
He has tons of stuff and gonna give me HQ UV filters and hoods, I'm lucky !!!

I'm gonna have a K3 in a few days at a very good price from Japan, less than 9000 actations, it was top of PENTAX K series before they produced the K1. Gonna have a limited edition who was only used for demo in a shop
for only 700$, I don't understand your cosmetic critics, RICOH is the brand of pro products like huge industrial printers...

TY, I think I was in max aperture, maybe under f4 on some shots !
Hopefully I did not sold this lens when I sold my K5 II and good lenses set, I had it for 33€
just because there was a ahock on the front of the barrel and this is now fixed :)

I had tested the gen. 1 years ago, it is also good but realy to heavy, not far to 1 Kg, and too long, The gen 2 has a much better handling and the one I got is optically and mechanically just like it had never been used :)

I also have to show what I can get with my Tokina II SD 70-210, not as fast but light and small, KA mount, perfect for landscape or urban photos with a standard 52mm filter size.
Very nice handling, not a bokeh monster but sharp and natural colors.

How much can cost a modern digital zoom with this IQ ???

If you look at them in native resolution on my Flickr page, you'll see how sharp it goes even open wide, can you get a faster zoom with this IQ ?

I have the tool (stainless parallel adjustable bars, one side like a flat screwdriver and one side like a conic pointer used to unscrew / screw lenses rings fixations)
and on this pentacon it is very easy to adjust the front lens, there is no front ring like on almost all lenses.
But its focusing ring is very hard, I don't know how to make it easier to manipulate...
BTW I've put it on eBay and have quite lots of views so...

Very usefull kit indeed, can this be found on eBay ? Yes found from China at 30-40€ but a good friend is expert in repairing lenses and even bodies
and he has this kit, I can borrow it from him for free :)
He was able to repair the filters thread of my Series 1 and even to put me a +1 lens on my special focusing rubber circle part ! He has tons of old stuff like pro tripods... I'm lucky.
