The fact that Tokina makes 11-16 for all three major brands but Pentax is one of the reasons I am moving away from the K-mount.
There is absolutely zero reason why there isn't a T or P brand 11-16, except politic.
Tokina is making a new 16-28mm full frame lens, I am sure it will not be available to K mount.

You have to consider the lens margin as well. A FF sensor inside an alpha mount body will sell maybe 2-3 more FF lenses, lenses that cost close to $1000 no less. Obviously Sony will make more money by having the cheapest FF body.

The sensor supplier (Sony) will make sure its not the cheapest FF SLR on the market. So no surprise on price here.

I would say the best in the class is the Nikon 17-55 AFS.

I haven't been logged in to this forum in almost a year. It's good to see my old thread got bumped up. :)
BTW, if a FF is coming, it's spec and price will not be too far away from the A850/A900 twins.
And if Tokina announce full frame f/2.8 zoom lenses this year, I will count it as another sign of Pentax FF coming.

The Samsung NX will capture as much a market as the Ricoh GXR thingabob, which is no market.
Without aperture control its useless for the PK lenses. People need to stop kidding themselves.
The size of Samsung is irrelevant. Want to see a fail Samsung venture? Take a look at their smartphones. They have been in the smartphone market since the PalmOS4 days, and they have made a model for every smartphone OS they can license, ever. And nobody knows Samsung makes smartphones to this day.

2010 Photokina, believe!
I really wish Tokina remake its awesome ATX 28-80mm 2.8. People who use F and EF mounts can still benefit from Pentax going FF if Tokina and Pentax make the zoom lenses together again.

So how do you select the AF point? And how do you tell which point you are using?

I rather have a SuperCCD FF sensor. Kodak's sensors traditionally don't go over ISO 400 very well.

Samsung should make an adopter even just to make the current Samsuung DSLR owners happy. They owe that much to the current owners.
Easier to lurk Pentax user to migrate over as well.

LOL, let me get this straight. So if your old man doesn't like to shot RAW you will buy him a Mac and Aperture? What about your uncle, will you buy him one too?
iPhoto was a hand down the worst software Apple had ever made up till version 3. That speak for volume your taste in software.

Do you think a guy who has shot slide for years (someone who is in his 50s or older) has a PC that has the spec and space to do it. Give me a break.

He was talking about the dynamic range of slide is narrower than film, much like jpeg vs RAW.
To be fair, I think asking older people who don't use PC all the time to work on RAW is a bit of a tall order. I work on computer all day and even I don't bother with RAW. Becuase I don't like to spend the extra time on the work flow.

How is that a baseless statement? Olympus had more than 5 years to make compact lens for the 4/3 format and they have only made one. And 4/3 is supposed to be the smallest DSLR system.
He didn't mention any future pancakes but a UWZ and a superzoom.
Neither the 25mm, the 17mm and the Panasonic 20mm is wide enough. As long as they don't release one wide angle pancake I can order from B&H, I don't consider m4/3 a viable system. Bookmark this post if you want, It may take a long time for the wide angle pancake to show up.

That's a very negative "preview". This guy is just lame.
1. It's really unprofessional to use that kind of tone on a "preview" page when he hasn't touched the product
2. Why does he feel the need to comment on camera brands he doesn't like and care anyway?
3. For crying out loud, why does this guy use a Canon SD880 as his point and shoot of choise. There are at least ten P&S that are better.
What the hell, I am done.

A 720p screen would be very impressive indeed and very useful for manual focus.
But I need to know the K adapter situation.

I think whoever lead this EP-1 project didn't do a good job in market positioning. This model has bit of a identity crysis. Things like lack of flash, model with number "1", SR build-in, bundled OVF and the price tag indicate a high-end model. But the flashy color, ugly slanded shoulder, lack of EVF indicate a low-end model. So is this a low end, or high end model? Nobody knows.
Also, I serious doubt O will make a second pancake lens in the next 12 months. Olympus simply doesn't commit to compact prime lens the way Pentax does.

You don't need a new mount to make smaller combo, if there is no mirror in the body, you can shrink the whole lens inside the mount. It won't be that much bigger than the EP1 combo. Although its not going be very good looking.

Olympus has not proved that they are willing to make professional fixed lens.
And for the m4/3 mount, so far they have a pair of slow consumer zooms, one f/2.8 wide-angle and one fast f/1.7 pancake concept.
I really don't think you can consider the m4/3 a "system" until they release a couple more lenses.

If they can make the whole package as small as LX3/DP1 (i.e. smaller than Leica rangefinders), then I don't really care about the viewfinder. They can offer hotshoe OVF as the only option I still want one.

I believe it let you grab the lens easier when you mount it.
Nikon used to have a silver ring on its AI-S lens that serve the same purpose.
