I wish they would pick a good budget zoom for standard lengths.

mitakon does not use a aperture bayonet .
it may be semi clicky for the aperture ring too, the f2 is that way.

Portrait Lenses for APS-C?

The proper portrait lens is the 55mm lens,
I love my DA70 so that would also be nice for portraits, but the true prime with the proper focal length for aps-c is 55.
you also can use zooms to get that 55mm.

sigma 70-300 has a 200-300 macro mode.
it is not as good as normal macro though.

My favorite was the free to me da50mm 1.8, its great, I don't know if I can justify getting something similar,
It is not as fun as the da70 but it does great anyhow.

get the limited prime and add a 28-80 lens as they are cheap but do zoom when you want that.
good lens and and a mediocre one all in one package.

you can easily set the iso limit even in 3rds if needed. in tav. so you can get 200-350 or 400-800

your camera should have a TAV mode and that will let you shoot with fixing both your aperture and shutter . the iso will vary based on your set parameters.

I have the 85 f2 lens and that is fairly cheap and very good for manual work.

---------- Post added 11-17-16 at 08:21 PM ----------

the ap rings on the lens are semi clicked so good for both stills and video.

What would you recommend? Low light action shots. Is it possible on a TIGHT budget?

best options for your price range are the 50mm1.8 and Mitakon 85mm 2.0, both under 200 dollars and yes the mitakon is manual focus, but in low light you may need to do that anyhow.
