The loud noise is normal too? Is it possible for the bearing to get loose and cause damage?

My copy has something lose towards to rear of the lens. It sounds like a tiny screw rolling around. It seems to be contained away from any of the glass elements. When I use exposure metering, the apeture blades are loud when they move. Is this normal?
Does anyone have a service manual for this lens? Or experience with similar problems?

"It would make a fine m42 camera."
Thanks, that was what I was wondering about.
"why not also repair the aperture why youre in there?"
Good idea, but apparently the more modern DSLRs with shake reduction/sensor cleaning are much more difficult to mod. I think replacing the IR filter with optically neutral glass and putting it back together will be challenging enough :)
Loosing weather sealing effectiveness is not something I had considered, but its not too big a deal, as the apeture issues mean I would be using older (non WR) manual lenses.
The main problem I see with this plan now is finding a service manual for the k30.
"taking one down to the sensor is not an easy task." jkomp316,
Have you done a conversion yourself?

I have an option of buying a cheap k-30 that has apeture drive issues. Would this make a good camera for full spectrum conversion? Has anyone removed the IR filter themselves? Would the apeture drive problem effect performance once converted (infrared and astrophotograghy)?

If you cannot do what you want to with bulb mode, an intervalometer may help. They can be wired, or not. If you want to be able to trigger the camera (or change your programed set of pics) at a big distance, you want one that uses wifi to communicate (not IR or bluetooth).

Thanks Steve.
The rf-605c triggers can set off both flash and the shutter. It is backwards compatible with yongnuo products that use rf603 and rf602 protocols to communicate. I guess what I want to know is does the mc-36r use the rf602 or 603 wireless protocols? What I want to do is have a single rf-605c in the hot shoe connected to the camera via cable, instead of the dongle that comes with the mc-36r.
I have tried finding specs on mc-36r, but it is EOL, so it's difficult to find anything. It's clone - YouPro YP-870 - can be found through ebay, but the suppliers are Chinese and I haven't had too much luck asking Chinese suppliers complex question like this.

I have a Yongnuo YN-560 IV flash and want an intervalometer and better wireless trigger. Does anyone know if the Yongnuo mc-36r intervalometer (or its clone YouPro YP-870) work with the rf605c triggers (or a tx-560)?
