My next thought was why not move the K1 articulate screen and design an inexpensive waist level finder ala P6x7? I’m a 6x6 and 6x7 roll film shooter and still use WL finders.
Interchangeable finders would be a welcomed feature, I would think.

As a geezer, I’ve lost the need for “size” or studio sized kits & projects. A K1 is more than a handful for me, as are the bigger Fuji kits. Pentax K3ii & 3 are more my speed, and loving all the new post processing tech. Even my Fuji x10 is back in my bag. :) Uncle, I respect your observations and extend best wishes! Thx!

Technically, I got hooked on “Pentax” in late ‘70s with a pair of 8x42 deluxe binoculars! Wow! My son still has them in service. My 1st Pentax analog & lenses was a P6x7 with Takumar 135mm macro still in service. The Spotmatic F and assorted bodies & lenses, followed by K bodies & lenses etc. My first Pentax digital was an Optio PS; not long lived tho. Then a K200d started my DSLR education. For me, Pentax camera designs suit my work flow and sundry photography needs. I have used other systems over the decades, but Pentax is so familiar in operation I always have kept it in my plans.

Wow! It sounds to me that the warranty is worded to protect Pentax at the expense of the customer, and does not cover weather or environmental problems in spite of marketing claims. Thanks for sharing! K3lll is off my wish list and my K3ll will be treated & fondled gently!

Which is bigger? Which is better? Smell this! Comparisons, choices, compromises; it’s what humans & cultures do! Like many others, I enjoy talking & listening about all of it with you. Thanks for sharing! Cheers! 😊

Thx for your opinion & analysis. I have also begun assimilating some OMD and like their approach in several areas, like AF, EVF, carry weight and overall tech. My Penf & K3ii go out on walks together now!

Uncle Vanya, kudos. I’ll play his tipsy friend and recommend leveraging your K3 further. Have you tried panoramic stitching or pixel shifting for your landscapes and outdoor work? I use a K3ii, and got it specifically to chase night skies and scenics, and it passes muster for some other tasks. I cast no shade on the K1 series, but I realized, just prior to buying one, that I hadn’t really pushed the APS-C realm very hard. If there is a specific task needing bigger output, I can rent something or use my Extensive P67 systems. No commercial advice is intended here; been there and done with it; retired. Fwiw, mirrorless technology is singing to me and I need to scale kit sizes backward due to health issues. Time to dust off my MZs! Lol!

What’s up with all the new 35mm focal length, wide aperture, “razor sharp” heavy glass, lenses for all the current brands? Sigma, Tamron, Pentax, voigtlander, etc etc? Did I miss the Millenial scream for a new 35mm because a new optical formula for a perfect normal lens is needed? Based on some early photos of new designs, these 35mm wonders are not petite! Preliminary pricing seems astronomical! Oof-dah!

KP camera body and lenses? Fwiw, Lensrentals.com has the KP for under $60/week, including shipping via fedex both ways. Add more for lenses, but the rates are reasonable. If you are new to LR, there is a promotional discount usually. So for under $140 per week, you could use a KP + lens (E+ Condition) delivered to your door in a couple days. They have the FF kits available too with some nice glass. My experiences with Lensrentals has been excellent; same with KEH, B&H & Adorama etc.

Suggestion only: I like Portra films in P67 for the same reasons you are hooked. I use APS-C (K3ii) with a Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 Nokton lens and get similar results. Assumes some attention to lighting and composition plus post-processing. The same lens works well on my various PK film bodies, and Portra is a staple film for me. Depending on lens focal length preference, you may want to look for something in a 50~90mm for FF.
