I don't, so this might not be helpful.
It may be using a technique similar to that employed by dcrawps, which checks for differences in pixels in the two images which are aligned on green. For zero movement these pixels should be identical, hence where there are differences some logical action can be taken.

You know, you could save money by just going with the 16-85 and a 55-300, which will be WR, be faster to focus and have better image quality.

If you are in a very dry climate like I am in Western Colorado, you don't really have to worry about condensation unless your breath is the source of moisture.
Also if you are shooting hand held, be careful with the cold metal of the camera up against your face. It might stick! :eek:

A hot tip (pun intended) I came across yesterday was to keep batteries in a padded bag in your jacket pocket with a hand warmer in the bag. Keeps them warm and avoids condensation.

Lots of people say "Every kit needs a 16mm" for the wide angle.. but I personally feel that adage is meant for full frame cameras.
With the crop factor of the K-70 considered, a 10 or 11mm would provide about the same field of view on APSC as a 16mm of full frame.
Since OP does express interest in landscape and architecture, perhaps find a nice used 10-20 Sigma or a Pentax 12-24mm to get that Ultra Wide Angle view.

One issue is that bundling the M-135 with a Vivitar 2x tele may have suboptimized the price. People who only want an M-135 won't pay more to get the added 2X and people who only want a 2X won't pay more to get the added M-135. In fact, many may wish to pay less for the pair than they would for a listing with just one item -- the second item is a nuisance for them.
Selling a bundle of products reduces the seller's labor and hassles but also reduces the revenues.

The biggest issue I've had in very cold outings is the battery. Just bring your second battery and put it in a pocket to stay warmer and swap when you need. Warming up is tougher, as mentioned above.

I have spent hours outside at near -20 C with my KP and previously with my K-50. Shorter battery life, even with the grip on my KP, but you are overthinking things unless your camera is already brittle from age. Just don't force anything and change temperatures gradually. keep a bag with the camera and lenses going out and inside after you are done. You could always wrap a handwarmer under the camera body with a scarf or something.

White balance (WB) is widely misunderstood as being related to normalization of image tint. In reality, it is normalization of sensor response the image processor to specific spectral distribution of black body emission by light source. Auto white balance is a bit of a mystery as to how it works, though it enough to say that it may be thrown off by colored filters, colored stage lighting, and mixed/unusual lighting source.
In regards to your example photos, both are overly cool. WB was off in both photos. What was the light source? LED lamp?* If mid-daylight from a north-facing window, I would have expected about 5500K.
Regarding the lens...there is no Pentax-M 55/1.8, though there is the Pentax-K 55/1.8 and several M42 Takumar 55/1.8 lenses. Lets assume you are shooting with the Pentax-K 55/1.8. I use that lens on my K-3 and have never experienced WB issues such as in either of your examples.
Now to the nitty-gritty. Both images appear to have taken a trip through DXO and likely reflect initial processing tweaks specific to that software.** Try the same with an in-camera JPEG capture in natural light with the Whibal card as the subject of the photo and see if you get better results. If the card is white, be sure to add exposure compensation.

** If the original images were PEF/DNG, it is important to note that RAW data has no notion of white balance. Tools typically take their clues from the image metadata for initial RAW processing.

I went to the PhotoPlus Expo 2018 in NYC today and spoke to the Ricoh/Pentax reps, among others. I've got a few pictures from the show, as well. First impressions were that the show was relatively crowded. Needless to say, the biggest exhibitors were Nikon, Canon and Sony, with Olympus and Fuji close behind. The Ricoh/Pentax space was tiny in comparison to the big three, being only about 10-15% of the space of each of the others. The big three exhibits were mobbed; standing room only. Pentax seemed to have a steady stream of visitors, but one or two at a time. The only time that Pentax seemed to have a higher number of visitors was when one of the reps was making a presentation and people passing by would stop to hear what was being said. The presentations were drastically different. The big three all had models on stage with the presenter taking and showing images as they were taken. Visitors were allowed to use the demo cameras and take their own pictures, or even use their own cameras with their favorite settings for comparison. Olympus has been pushing their cameras for avian photography for a while and, in that vein, their model was a large bird of prey! Olympus was demonstrating their ability to focus on the bird's eyes as a highlight of their camera's capabilities.
Even B&H had a huge exhibit and they were busy making sales. I didn't notice much in the way of Pentax in the B & H exhibit, although to be fair, I didn't spend a lot of time (or money!) there. Directly across the aisle from Ricoh/Pentax was the ON1 booth, which was about the same size. They were busy pushing ON1 RAW 2019 by demoing some of its new capabilities and were taking pre-orders for it.
I spoke to the Pentax reps (there were 5 of them) and commented on the fact that their space was dwarfed by the displays of the other DSLR and MILC manufacturers. The response was that they didn't have the advertising resources the others have, which no one here should be surprised about. I specifically asked about a flagship APS-C DSLR to replace the K-3II and, unsurprisingly, didn't get much of a response. The rep did say that there are no plans to exit the APS-C domain, but he didn't have any information that he was willing or able to share regarding a follow-on. I commented to them about all of the angst on this forum about a K-3II follow-on and the rep said that he knows. He reads the posts on the forum, but doesn't/can't respond. One of the most interesting things to me was that he handed me a new Pentax brochure for K-mount Lenses and Accessories. The printing date for the brochure is October 2018, so it's hot off the presses. I've included a picture of the cover in this post.
I mentioned that ON1 was across the aisle from Ricoh/Pentax and I went over to ask them a few questions about some capabilities I felt were missing. First among them was the ability to handle Pixel Shift files. I ended up speaking to their Director of Engineering about it. He admitted that they hadn't done anything about it but also said that they are seeing more requests for it now that other companies are putting the capability into their cameras. He didn't realize that the K-1II allows hand-held pixel shift shots to be made. When I told him, he commented that the new capability may lead to additional requests for it. I'd recommend that anyone on the forum, who hasn't already done it, and uses ON1 and might be interested in using this capability on a K-1II go up to the ON1 web site and support the request for it. He said that he may look into it some more, but additional requests for it might boost his interest.
Now for the pictures. The first two show the Pentax side of the booth, with a surprising number of lenses on display. In the foreground of the first picture you can see a K-1II, with one of the new 50mm lenses on it, displayed under some running water to highlight the Pentax weather resistance. The second picture highlights all of the lenses. The third image shows the extent of the demonstration area at the back of the booth. There were about 5 rows of chairs available for viewers behind me. The fourth image shows the GR/Theta portion of the display, which was on the other side of the wall holding the lenses. The last image is the cover of the new lens and accessory brochure. Unfortunately, the brochure doesn't include a roadmap for the future. That being said, even the rep said that he hasn't seen something like this from Pentax in a long time!
As a quick aside. I also spoke to the Sigma rep and asked him about the possibility of more lenses supporting Pentax and he quickly shot that down due to the tiny market share Pentax holds. He also expressed some disappointment in that, because he said that he started with Pentax (a Spotmatic) and has a collection of old Pentax lenses and bodies. Again, no surprises in that response.

The "smartphone" form factor succeeds best at being a completely self-contained pocket computer no one in their right mind would want to use as such for more than 5 or 10-minutes at a stretch, if they have an alternative to hand (if not, I guess they're sort of stuck).
It is inferior, both as a phone and as a camera compared to dedicated devices.
No amount of code can overcome this inherent, physical deficit.

Thanks for the response. I don’t plan on wearing it all day. I typically only shoot for a couple of hours at a time. I used to change lenses out in the field but it always seems that I end up getting dust in the camera. Since I started shooting just a single lens and only changing them at home. I haven’t had to clean the sensor. You are absolutely right about the 18-300. It s a really convenient lens. I don’t have to think about what or where I will be shooting as it will pretty much do whatever I need. The lenses I listed are examples. I really love the optical quality of the DA* 50-135 but the range is not my favorite as I tend to prefer The 16-85 range. It’s the same with my 8-16 it definitely provides a different perspective and is fun but it’s not for every shot. The same goes for my primes. I like my results with them but I prefer the convenience of zooms. It would be nice to just have one when an opportunity arises.
You may be right but I need to see if it can work for a lazy sucker like me.

Yes I do have a Tamarac Expedition 8X that I store my equipment in. I used to always bring it with me but it became a pain hauling it around. I’m almost 60 and can’t handle the weight anymore. If I was10 years younger it would be a great solution.

To travel light and stay warm, I highly recommend swapping out the 9mm for a .380 Walter PPK - it’s the pistol version of a Pentax KP with HD DA 40 Ltd. Swap the rye for a flask of Laphroaig and everything will fall into place.

I used two 67ii's on three winter trips to Inner Mongolia, where it was frequently in the -20 to -30 (Celsius) range and had no problems whatever with the camera. And, despite having spares, never even had batteries run low! (Lithium is amazing). The only problems I had were with the lenses (aperture blades buckling in the cold!). But the bodies just kept on going.
So I am sorry to say that it's probably your specific body.
