I find no indication of Pentax support on the CamFi website; only Canon, Nikon, and Sony.

There is a company that makes 5volt USB powered chargers for camera batteries. I have posted them here before and will try to find the link again. Combine this with a power bank and solar panels, and you're good to go as long as the sun is shining. ---------- Post added Dec 10th, 2018 at 04:02 PM ----------

+1 for the Wasabi batteries, but stick with the OEM charger whenever possible.

Ditto the caution on the cables at low temps. All things plastic, really.
I don't think that I've had the K3 out any colder than -27F. But, except for the expected battery life, it performed fine.

I use a Peak Design clip on my pack strap and when I want to carry a second camera I'll use one of those across the chest straps with a sliding swivel mount.

Nice shot. I love the light this time of year, and how it can break through the clouds onto the mountains. Mine are the Chugach. Hello from Anchorage.

Just a crazy idea here, but if you have a phone with an IR emitter (like a Samsung), try the DSLR Remote app and see if the camera responds to that.

I like that same Sigma but in the 3.5 version. Great lens. There's a comparison of the two here on the forums.

To clarify and add further: yes, the K-30 was a secondary camera and kept at my office, but the battery was maintained and the camera fired approximately monthly.

I do have a lot of legacy glass and can use those lenses with the K-30, but I consider that the lemonade from this lemon.

Yeah, but I bought eggs, not an omelette! 🤣 ---------- Post added Jun 9th, 2018 at 05:52 PM ---------- My K-30 didn't see much action once I got my K-3. I have no idea the shutter count, but it only got about a year's use. Kept it at the office as a secondary camera. Then, one day found it had the problem.

Thanks to everybody for participating. Some really great entries here.
Notes:
aaacb: I love the story this photo tells, especially the background cop.
RGlasel: really captures the theme. Great shot.
Vaskebjorn: no, that kitten does not look comfortable at all!
Bruce Clark: Great look into the macro world. Predators come in all sizes.
atupdate: Very evocative, even without the background story this is a photo that begs interaction.
Tamia: Thanks for your rescue work! Great photo!
Hattifnatt: Love it! Can't say I would have been comfortable doing that myself!
jacamar: Great shot! Coyote has a cataract maybe?
sealonsf: Oh my! Yeah, no...not getting me out there like that!
SpecialK: Looks exciting!
dlneubec: Cute. Very artistic. Very shy.
Terry C: Yeah, I hope not in my bathroom!
noelcmn: Would not want to be on the receiving end of her wrath! Honorable mentions:
3rd Place - RGlasel: nice tension between the obvious discomfort and no apparent way out of the situation.
2nd Place: Bruce Clark: terror on a tiny scale! And the winner is...
1st Place - atupdate: I really like this picture. I find it reminiscent of a painting by Giorgio de Chirico. When reviewing the entries, I tried to imagine them in a gallery with only the contest title as the description. I kept coming back to this shot.

Apologies to all. I was overly occupied with a work project and entirely forgot to follow up with my duty here. I will get this closed this evening.
