Question to Pentax K-S1 owners – shutter vibration

I first noticed it on the 50/1.8. Then I tried the 18-55 & 50-200 and it was there as well. Clearly it's mirror slap.
I've since taken the camera back.
I already have shutter shock issues with my Micro Four Thirds camera and don't want to deal with this any more than I have to.

Not sure where to go from here, I'm thinking EOS M3.

Have you relaly tested it out?

I ran an extensive series of shots at different apertures, focal lengths and shutter speeds, SR on & off and the phenomena is clearly there.

I've had my K50 now for a few days and noticed image blurring due to mirror slap at around 1/80 sec. Somewhat muted with IS on but still present. This could be a deal breaker for me.

Hello all,

I've been messing around with compacts and mirrorless since I sold my photography business, including the gear. I've been through a bunch of cameras and lenses, more than I care to admit. I do still shoot film and have a nice collection of vintage SLR's and lenses. Recently purchased a K50 with the two kit lens package at a very good price (couldn't really pass on it). I was a bit reluctant, not because my recent purchase was a Pentax but because I thought I wouldn't be getting back into a DSLR for a while. Alas, I missed the handling and OVF so, here I is. So far, the K50 is a peach, love it. I like simple, well built cameras that don't cost much. After having several cameras stolen from me, I refuse to drop more money into that wormhole. I also live in Detroit area and shoot on the streets frequently. Big flashy cameras attract big flashy guns. I also don't like getting kicked out of places because I have pro gear (have many times).

Since I travel quite a bit, I'm a proponent of efficiency. I like cameras that squeeze a lot of image quality and performance into reasonably small packages. Right now, my travel kit is a Sony RX10 and RX100 in one bag. It covers 90% of my shooting style. For low light work I have other gear that I rotate so, it changes frequently. Not into action/sports or wildlife. Never got into portraits but I have shot more than a few weddings. Mostly 75% JPEG shooter but I do have Lightroom and Photoshop and I know how to process a RAW file. Been shooting more RAW lately just because I have so many cameras, I get confused as to what settings work best in what camera. I love the fact that the K50 has in-camera RAW conversion. Best feature ever.

I'm trying to stay away from Full Frame and am giving Pentax a chance. Was going to get the D7200 as I have experience with several Nikon crop sensor DSLR's (and some Canon as well).

Here's why I'm willing to try Pentax:

1. My first SLR ever was a K1000 I bought second hand when I was like 17 years old. My first new DSLR was a Super Program so I have a soft spot in my heart for Pentax cameras and I know they deliver on the goods.

2. I've already given Canon and Nikon enough of my money (especially Canon). Used to be on a first name basis with a couple of gear shop owners. They'd order a new Porsche every time I walked in the door. I have so many Nikon coffee cups, I'm thinking about opening an eBay store and retiring with the proceeds.

3. Pentax seems to offer the best value in DSLR's. I know they have their faults, every camera does, but nothing that would stop me from taking great pictures and enjoying the experience.

4. I'm active on other photo forums and it seems to me the Pentax users are a more reasonable lot. Maybe I'm wrong, let's see.

My next gear purchase will probably be another Fujifilm X100. I had the S and am going for the T. Best digital street shooter.

Anyhoo, I'm hear not to learn about photography but more so for the tribal knowledge and comradery. Maybe I'll have something to offer, who knows. I do take a lot of pictures. I recently refreshed my Flickr Photostream. Don't have much on there, still culling about 70,000 or so past images for sharing on the web. I do print a lot and I do sell some of my work although, I'm not that good really.

Cheers.
