K-mount on 645

It is possible and would have to go mirrorless to make it happen, Such as the gfx. not all lenses work though, some are better then others. The one part that they are able to do, is if they don't completely work, they cut out part of the sensor to turn it into the full frame camera. Also all lenses turn into manual lenses as far as using k mount lenses.

Do people in the USA ever use tons as a measurement?

I think many people have mentioned a good amount on how it is used. My take though, there is a few accounts when used. A generalization with out being specific to make things seem larger. In this case when having a conversation and you just don't want to deal with something or doing the work. Saying that it weighs a ton oddly enough sounds that it weighs more then saying it weighs 1000 pounds(it really isn't and it is twice as much). That even goes into the thought of marketing. People will think a half ton pickup truck would haul more and sounds better then saying a 1000 pound pickup truck which people think man that truck is heavy.

Which goes into the next point it is used in hauling items on a trailer. To save on space they use the measurement in tons. Do you use 20000 pounds or 10 tons. 10 tons is much easier to phathom and write for weight of the trailer or weight load of what the truck can pull.

The next is used for lifting. Cranes, chainfalls, etc. Now this one can be tricky and depends on the one you talk to. Some will still say pounds, but a good number of times in the maritime shipping industry or even a ton ;) of lifts we do for buildings (used as a generalization in this case as I don't have a exact amount) we would use tons at a certain point. I wouldn't use a quarter ton when speaking about 500 pounds, I might use a half ton though as it's quicker to write and also say then 1000lbs, also I can be exact. On the flip side I would use 1500 pounds over three quarter ton.

Refrigeration. This one is different, and goes back to the day when refrigeration was all about blocks of ice and ice making. But to bore you from the details, in refrigeration you are looking at the system as a whole and the charge of refrigerant in the system. How one ton of refrigeration capacity can freeze one ton of water in 24 hours. Often times it gets calculated in terms of btu/minute or even horsepower which can be used in their specific conditions. 2000lbs is 1 us ton of refrigerant which can remove 200 btu/min or about 4.7 horsepower of work. I think outside the us uses kilowatt instead of horsepower, kw/kj instead of btu/lb, and uses tonne instead of us short ton.

---------- Post added 07-26-19 at 07:08 AM ----------

I'm a millennial and I know. My background is maritime/ industrial/building engineering and I'm more accustomed in using 50 tons in that scenario myself opposed to saying 100000 pounds.

That's why we have the long ton to make sure it comes out being bigger[emoji23]. Yes as the long ton is roughly 2240 pounds.

I've been happy with mine. Although I use the Fuji lenses most of the time, there's been cases I've been loving the 50s with a Pentax 43mm

I would have probably made the situation worse by saying something along the lines of..." Don't worry,I'm not taking pictures of you. If I did my camera would either break or turn into a brick as your image would cause a computer virus"

Yes it is not a polite comment by any means, but she is already angry because of nothing. so it couldn't make the situation worse. Well unless it's in a not so good neighborhood, then I'd probably just ignore her and be about my business, or at least ask her to move as she is ruining the shot... Haha

Pentax retailer in the Bay area?

It's a difficult one as most stores in the area have reduced their inventory considerably. The options that I know of is samy's camera in san Francisco, all they really have are some used lenses, and a used k3 in the right display, another distributor is camera west in Walnut Creek. Yet they only varied the 645z, at this point you would need to order it. Lastly I think there is a place in Berkeley, but I am not sure. I think the best bet is to go through Craigslist.

Yeah not sure what to think. It is hard to believe that dslrs are going away. I went into the local camera store's today in my area and couldn't help but notice what people were buying. Maybe saw one person buying an Olympus but most others were buying nikon and Canon dslrs. Did not see any other cameras let alone mirrorless on the counter or in people's hands. Yeah I see dslrs being safe for the time being.

Oh, ok... That makes more sense. Yeah I don't know how often they update the information as they don't make mention of the newer bodies from the past couple years. So I can see how they just mention how ibis is still the way to go.

I was thinking of another point as you mention video. If Pentax would develop a CO system where the cameras can utilize both at the same time, would it be worth it outside of just looking at the back screen for video? Reason I ask is if one was to do a long exposures without a tripod it would be difficult to keep the camera steady while looking at a blacked out viewfinder. There would be nothing to be able to keep the framing for reference. I can see it if it was one or the other as far as long lenses, but in general it might be a waste in that regard.

I might be slightly confused? If you go to the lens page with the 300mm, Olympus mentions how their lenses with IS work in conjunction with their 5 axis IBIS. it is not a one or other, although you can select which one you want to use. It is only with select bodies, but it does work well.

Wasn't the shutter shock issue only happening to a select number of k1's? I don't ever remembering it happening to the one I had.

That is true, with the ovf though it is the use of mirrors or pentaprism, the view converge/ magnification, and if there are overlays or what is viewed in the ovf layout. Last but not least the mirror mechanism the dampening force to prevent mirror shock, if they allow mirror lockup, mirror speed. Ovfs have their price cuts as well, luckily as a brand Pentax generally have been great across the line.

Was it the R or RP model? They use two different evfs. The evf on the RP is horrible, but the R model is much better and easier on the eyes.

I think 6 stop is the one to go for in a good number of cases. if I need more I also use a darker cpl filter, which helps reduce the incoming light.

It's funny how they want you to believe that there is no lag, especially for panning and shooting. I will say though, battery life is not as horrible with current generation of milc. I know what the cipa ratings state, in one camera I can get between 1000-2000 shots and the other easily between 600-1200. I'm not defending milc in a good amount of cases, but that doesn't sound like poor battery life, especially it's not spraying, running and gunning, and normal use much like a DSLR.

I don't think I'm doing anything special really. Just I turn off image review, and unless I'm ready to shoot I keep the camera turned off. Idk maybe Sony is different, but with Canon and Fuji there are no issues.

---------- Post added 04-12-19 at 05:04 PM ----------

I mean for me anyways, I don't walk around with my camera up to my eye, but it's not like you need to be cheap with the battery usage to put it mildly... Haha. If you see something about to happen you can turn on the camera, wait, compose, etc much like a DSLR without having to worry about your battery running down. Newer systems are much more energy efficient. And evfs are nowhere close to ovf clear/crisp/lagfree, but they are getting closer.

I think the battery depends on camera and how the person sets it up. To the most part I don't have battery issues at all with my mirrorless cameras. For a general camera I'll get anywhere between 600-2000 shots on one battery. I don't spray my shots either.

12 image handheld pano taken with the XT3 and the 18-55 kit lens. The hills were glowing with green when taking the images, so I desaturated the image a tad.

I think you missed something in my post... I said "I equate", meaning in my view. Others have their opinions as well. anyone can use what ever camera for what ever they would like, even a 60,000 dollar camera as a travel family camera if they were inclined. Anyways, for rejects they are nice pictures. :D
