Hi :)
I've just nominated my lens. Is it normal that I see only my thread in the lens tournament forum? It seems like nobody else posted anything
Edit: going back to the parent forum shows me that the thread number is higher! :D |

Yes, he tried. The camera is dead, no leds, no screen on, nothing. This due to the firmware update failure.

I don't have the camera here, but I suppose my friend tried it. I will contact him, but I'm pretty sure he tried this simple workaround.
Thank you for your reply. I think the camera is completely dead. The only way perhaps is to use a JTAG, but I need at least a person that tried to figure out which are the correct pins. What a shame... An almost new Pentax K-7 bricked in this way. If somebody can help with a sort of complete restore of the software side of the camera, I'm here to learn. Anyway, everything you said was done (my friend tried to recover the camera in infinite ways, but nothing seem to work), at least I think.
LOL the camera is not mine, but I think that my friend tried it a lot of times, with different batteries and different ways. This is a simple troubleshooting that everyone tries before throwing away an almost new Pentax body.
Thank you mates. :)

Well, that's why I didn't buy a Pentax body yet (I know I can't live without spending money in lenses and other stuff!) :o
Thank you for your welcome message (my wallet is crying now!). ;)

The camera is fully bricked, so you can't even turn it on. The firmware itself got corrupted, I think. The camera doesn't turn on at all.

Hi all,
I am a new user, but I'm reading stuff from this forum since some years. I have the opportunity to buy from a friend a used, but actually not-working, Pentax K-7. The camera is bricked: the user that owns it was upgrading the camera to a new official firmware, but he turned off the camera before it finished the process.
Is the camera recoverable? I don't want to start a new thread because I think this thread could help me to find the answer. I mean, there are a lot of things I can do with a "modified" firmware and the Debug Menu.
Is it recoverable? Or it is definitively died? Thank you in advance! :)

Hi all :)
I'm a guy from Italy and I really like the Pentax world. I tried a lot of Pentax cameras, from K-7 to k-5, but also the modern K-S1 and K-S2. I never had the opportunity to buy it because of the money, but now I'm pretty sure that I'll buy my first Pentax body (hoping in a K-5 or a K-7).
There are a lot of reasons I like more Pentax over Canon/Nikon and other brands. I really like Olympus, too, but I prefer (for personal tastes) the APS-C size over the Micro4/3 sensor size, but also a lot of software/hardware differences led me to choose Pentax over all the others!
So, even if I'm not a Pentax buyer yet (I'm only a 20 years old guy with no money, sigh :( ) I will absolutely buy a Pentax body in order to share with you some good pics! BTW, I'm following this forum since a lot of time (something like 2 years, lol), but I never registered. Today I thought it was the right moment! :D
Oh, and sorry for my bad English, too! I know I make some typos/errors, so if you want, you can help me to write better in English!
See you soon in the forums! ;)
Giorgio.
