If you stay in the K-5 family, I too would recommend the K-5 II or IIs. (Earlier bugs were worked out.) I love my K-5 IIs. Its shutter life expectancy is 100,000 clicks. Any you look at can be judged for remaining life by the current shutter count. I've never owned a K-3, but obviously it was a fine camera too. Its shutter life expectancy is 200,000 clicks.

Being an avid guitar player as well as a photographer, this creative image resonates with me on two fronts. I am neither Ansel Adams nor David Gilmour, but constantly strive to improve my skills in both arenas. I look forward to seeing your other album cover shots.
Well done!

My K10D was given to me by a friend. I've been able to take some very satisfying images with it. Apet-Sure's Album: Nature-K10D - PentaxForums.com
I might suggest that you keep the ISO set to 400 or below for the best results IMO. Paired with a good lens it is a pleasure to use. The colors are quite remarkable.

Well, a new Limited lens is in my future when the giveaway contest is over. NOT!
My dilemma is always whether to invest in new camera gear or new guitar/amp gear. 50/50 choice. A DA 16-85mm would be an upgrade from my Sigma 17-70, but maybe not by a wide margin. I've got a new tripod picked out to upgrade from my trusty but limited 70s model. I do have a guitar I could sell to fund camera gear.... My unused camera gear wouldn't sell for much, I don't think. Maybe a few bucks for the Vivitar 400/5.6.

I can highly recommend the M 50/1.7. Mine came with an ME Super, and I still love it on my DSLRs.

I have never seen sequoias, but I have seen the redwoods at John Muir State Park north of San Fransisco. What an amazing experience! It gave me a new perspective on the word 'gigantic'. Furrows in the bark deeper than my hand is wide. Thanks for posting this reminder of a wonderful time.

In November of 2019 my sister and I were planning our trip to Newfoundland in June of 2020. I was going to shoot my passport photo myself. Then my daughter mentioned that Walgreens did them. From showing up at the store to walking out with two photos took less than ten minutes, and was very inexpensive.

Welcome to the forum! Great to have you with us. :)
The shutter life expectancy of the K-3 is 200,000 clicks, so 2000 means it's barely gotten started.

I like the idea of a winner's choice of lenses that retail below a certain threshold. No telling what lenses the winner may already have, so having to chose from a limited pre-determined list may not give them good options. (Some primarily use FF and some crop sensor cameras, for instance). The fact that we are talking about PF having another lens giveaway is awesome in any case!
