I just picked up the DA 16-85. I love the range and the feel of it. I'm also looking at the 15 limited as my first prime.

Hello Forum Members,
While I've been a fan of Pentax Forums for years, I thought it was time to jump in! I've used Pentax since the mid 1980's. A friend of mine who
shot weddings used a 6X7 and when I asked about what camera to get he said Pentax of course! He had an ME Super. I went for the Super
Program and got another body too. I mostly shot landscapes and photos for my fire department. The FD also had a Minolta X700 which I liked
but I always stayed with Pentax. My go to all around lens was the 35-105 zoom macro (heavy, but hardy and I think it's still my favorite lens)
I'm an oil painter too, and unfortunately mostly used photography just to get some images to paint from. In the digital age, I've been less active until recently.
I picked up a K10D, then a K5 but did minimal shooting. Last year I bought a K3 and just over Thanksgiving got at B & H a great deal on the K3 II ($749). My
K3 is now my back-up or when I need a pop up flash, which is rare. So, while I would say that I was an enthusiast in the film days, I'm really a newbie with digital.
But I want to really get back to photography and take some of the best photos that I can produce. Right now, my all around lens is the SMC DA 18-270. For landscapes
I would like to pick up some prime lenses. Ed from PhotoUniverse inspired me to look at the primes. So, I'm thinking about the Limited 15mm,
35mm and 70mm. But I've heard good things about the 35mm & 100mm macro too. What should my first prime lens be? Any advice? I'm all ears!
When I can figure out how to upload a photo, I'll post a shot of Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia from August.
Glad to be on board!
Thanks,
Tom
