I use the same Sigma 70-200 lens as you but use IBIS. The results are not too bad. Next time I'll try lens stabilization to see if is better. Many Thanks

Monopod in low light

Hello Pentaxians

Do you think the use of a monopod will increase the AF accuracy of the camera in low light situations.
The issue is that I'm shooting at indoor volleyball games shooting at 1/500 or higher, the hand shake problems aren't a problem at this speed, but should it incresse the AF accuracy?

regards

I'd like to see the effort in better AF. ;););)is the only thing that freaks me out sometimes. The sensors that pentax presents normally are way better than the others. lets wait and see

I would say, as a K3-II user, that:

- better AF system,
- increase low light capacities would be OK
- add a litle flash

would be a great improvement, to turn the camera more versatle.

The other improvement, as more MP, buttons, changing the sensor. aren't in my idea necessary

so lets wait and see

Pentax should go only, for a beast FF (As K1) a beast medium format (as 645z) and a brutal beast joining technology as (k01 +k3ii) with small body, evf, and a good Af system. To compete canikon and have is own nich.

Only my opinion. Hope 2018 brings good news. By now I'm glad to have my k3ii.

Cactus V6 II HSS compatibility with my current speedlite?

Hello

I've tested this combo, updated to the recent Firmware versions:

Pentax K3II - Firmware V 1.10 ( Realease on 04 August 2016)
Metz 52 AF-1 - Firmware V 1.4 (Realease on 20.04.2017) - Pentax mount
Cactus V6II - Firmware V1.1.010 (Released on 19 May 2017)

Hence there is no particular profile in Cactus V6II for Metz 52 AF-1, I used the Metz 50 AF-1 Profile, and the results are very decent.
Attention: Auto-detect Metz flashes (Auto-Pentax on V6II), will not give good results

So I've tested the following sets:
On Tx: Camera System PENTAX | Flash System PENTAX | Costom Setings OFF | Flash Profile Metz AF50-AF-1
On Rx: Flash System PENTAX | Flash Profile Metz AF50-AF-1

With TTL-pass ON and OFF
Zoom on Metz - Doesn't work even with Zoom Auto set on Metz, The zoom is controlled mannualy on Tx, this is a feature not used for Off Camera Flash.
Focus Lamp (on the V6 II) - It works
good exposure - It works Perfect
max distance on display (changes when you move the apperture or speed dials) - Doesn't work, only changes if set changed on Tx, this is a feature not used for Off Camera Flash.
All works above Max sync speed - It works Perfect, TTL, on HSS, manual, everything works
Rx has a sports mode, that works too.

If used in Manual Mode (Tx - TTL Pass OFF) that gives you more creativity and control, it works really good.

I think this is a really good approach, and for me I'm satisfyied.

I'll keep waiting for next firmare, to have a complete profile,

Special thanks to Class A, dfp771 and mcgregni

Regards.

If you have the sigma 18-250 for walkarround, I would consider to sell the (Pentax 18-55mm DAL, Pentax 50-200mm DAL) and for interior sport you shoud think on a 70-200 F2.8, ( Pentax or Sigma) otherwise you would not be able to get clear photos.

Hello. In Portugal, I 've asked to a sigma seller in november and send the serial number of a 35 art f1.4 and a 70-200 f2.8. They asked to the sigma japan that send new baionet to change. It take 2 months. Then once the seller is 300km from me i send the lens to them and in a week they have made the repair.

On AV mode, have the possibility to insert a minimum shutter speed to not pass under that. If impossible then raise a step the iso. And so one. It's a very important feature, and think that's easy to program for ricoh/pentax engineers. It a feature that cannon has and its very usable all the times.

Metz 48/52 AF-1 and K-3 II compatibility issues? Help!

Hello all

First let me public thank to mcgreni, and you all for the research in pentax devices. I’ve been learning and studying this last year in this forum

For sometimes i said to a “canon” friend, that I’m suffering from excess of technology, hence my K3II is a very complete equipment. :)

By now, i think I can control the equipment and some techniques, but still far to know what I really want in this world of photography.

I’ve make some tests these days in family, with flash and without flash, and study some e-books and videos.

By luck, after a photo of 3 sec exposure, in another photo it was necessary to use the flash and i realise that i had the flash programed to 2nd curtain (When at 1/90 i was unable to see the selected curtain), so that’s why it has this limit 1/90.

Once I put it in 1st curtain the P-TTL and HSS P-TTL works fine.

Some links and books, you may already know:

Many Thanks
