Yes, I too notice this trend and can vouch for how the situation is in the swedish market. The last "push" and sucess, which (I am only going on my own observation) to increase brand visibility on online stores was the K1D. I am very lucky that the local camera shop in my own town has a long standing tradition to vouch for Pentax - due to their ruggedness and price to performance ratio.

This is actually one of the most exiting things I think Ricoh has done since the original K1D. I think they have lacked some forward thinking in regards to software and firmware development with the Pentax brand, especially my pet peeve video (SR!). But this is great, and I see only good things coming from it.

One of my favourite YouTubers, Mattias Burling just posted a new Pentax-related video on his channel.
After his very thoughtful and nice look at the Pentax Q, the turn has come to the Pentax KP. And he has a lot of interesting and worthwhile things to say about it. I actually think it's the best video review/essay I've seen so far.

Mattias is one of my favorite youtube-creators and him vouching for the Q and the Ricoh GR is kind of great for us pentax-users. It is a bit uphill for brand recognition and the unique character, left-field of a very rapid consumer culture, is sometimes forgotten. People like Mattias doing a 20 minutes video and showcasing the Q on his insta is inspiring.

Interestingly it promotes better full HD video. "Flawless full HD movie clips" in 60i (meh) and 30p frames per second in the H.264 format (standard). This says very little in itself, through.
Together with the announced HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE or smc PENTAX-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6ED AL[IF] DC WR lenses however, the K70 will have improved continous autofocus together with these lenses. Also extended aperture control in the former lens, which could be very nice.
If they implement Focus assist (zebra patterns) in live view for video and perhaps better compression through the codec, this could be an interesting option for those interested in video. Bring back mechanical IS and it will be their strongest competitor thus far. But none of these are mentioned so I will have to wait.

If it were a priority, Pentax could really offer something unique in the video department. They could start by bringing back mechanical shake reduction and up the codec. If that were the case, I'd probably upgrade, given the time.

I think it is bound to happen that a new APS-C flagship will be released, but maybe it will take more time, since Ricoh/Pentax put more effort into their upcoming full frame model. It will probably be as with their Q-line up, which I hope will continue, but was hinted in the recent interview is not top priority at the moment.

Yes, there are. You can export individual files as well as batch process them from raw to jpg in Lightroom.

It does strike me that Pentax has several good things going for it, one thing which is certain: you can get pretty much the best build quality, including weather sealing, for the least amount of money in the industry. They have created a sweet spot for people like me. The K5 and later, K3 - are in this respect, top notch.

Since we now know there is a dslr coming out, probably intended as a replacement for the K50, it appears there will be quite a short amount of time to announce a flagship camera with a quick release schedual. Or are they known to push fast from announncement to release for the general public? (I haven't actually given this much thought previously).

I found myself laughing and enjoying the segment, TCS mixed humour and seriousness and I think they strike the right balance between the two. So what if they think the KS1 suck.. It is their opinion and they also give quite som praise for other Pentax cameras (645Z and K3 to be specific).
They are actually promoting Pentax cameras, which is more then I han say for a lot of outlets.

The camera store TV feature two cameras from Pentax/Ricoh among its best and worst of 2014, in a quite hilarious (and drunk) presentation. The 645Z is considered second best of this year, while the KS1 is, well, not that lucky.

- Not being part of the megapixel race would be good.
- Better video all around, focus on shake reduction and codec.
- Continue to imrpove auto focus.
