yeah i think i'm gonna try to pick up a manual focus 28mm (coz they're cheaper) it might be more what i'm looking for as a walk around lens, the DA 21MM f/3.2 limited which would be great is a bit much for my budget at the moment. My 18-55mm AL2 is good but i just don't like the feel of it in my hand (i know: a bit wanky), all photos are clear and sharp but i really like the feel of my two 50's . any recommendations?

Does anyone find the 50mm on digital a bit of a difficult length to use as a walk around lens?
It's probably just me... But what do you guys use a 50mm on digital for?
I've had it for a while and it's kind of halted my shooting because i want to use it but can't quite figure it out.
It's the first lens i've spent money on besides the A 50mm f1.7 and a Tamron BBAR 135mm f2.8 (Both nice and cheap) after the kit lens 18-55mm AL2?

Why is it that all DA primes are either Limited or * lenses?
Are they all really deserving or is it just that pentax has decided that it good marketing to call everything limited or * lens?
Correct me if i'm wrong but the only non * or Limited lens in the DA line up is the SMC Pentax-DA 14mm F2.8...

I don't shoot over 135mm at all because i don't have any glass that is that long. It's the weather sealing that makes me want DA* lenses. But both the sigma 70-200mm 2.8 and the tamron look like great lenses.

The DA*50-135 or the DA* 60-250mm?
I already have FA50mm 1.4. Is the IQ of the 50-135 far superior or do you just get an extra two stops? I know the 60-250mm is 1.5 times the price but is this a better valued lens with the almost twice the reach. How do the two handle? is the 50-135 alot more usable in the hands? I want to buy a DA* but i think for the moment my DA 18-55mm AL II kit lens will cover the DA* 16-50mm at this stage.

I know it's a bit early to ask but my K200d is still fine and i think i'll buy one or two DA* lenses or even the 50-200mm WR lens before i get a K-7. Prob be on the market for a new body in about 12 months or so.
I'm only playing silly buggers asking about the K-8 but none the less still funny.
Ps anyone got a DA* 16-5omm for sale in Oz?

I've just picked up this pretty ancient (early 80s i think) lens of eBay. i picked it up for about 25 aus dollars. Any one know anything about this lens. It's a big bugger of a lens about 800 grams and about 20cm long. Anone know anything about its image quality?
I'll find out about it when i get it but anyone else familiar with this lens?

FA 50mm F1.4. Save the rest for another lens later. At US200 can't go wrong. Read the reviews, you'll like it

What's the difference between the Sigma AF 24-70 f2.8 EX DG DF and the Sigma AF 24-70 f2.8 EX DG Macro?
Is there a large difference in quality and minimum focus distance?
i assume the lens designated macro has a smaller focus distance but is the other one still a good lens worth maybe US$ 300?.
I can't find info on the non macro lens with DF on the box like in this photo

Is there a third party TC? Sigma etc..
I want to know if something is fully compatible with the DA* 50-135mm

Thanks res,
Does that mean if i take the shot in RAW it doesn't really matter what the Ev says it is simply a meter of how much light is getting in or lack thereof? And i can mess with that PP in lightroom or whatever?

If i select manual mode then i can select ISO but the other three seem to change depending on what i select of the others for example if i select ISO 800. f1.7 at 1/125 then the Ev changes t0 say 1.0, if i select ISO 800 f2.4 at Ev 0.0 then the shutter speed automatically goes to say 1/60.
I don't know if i'm not doing something i should be. i think i need the extra dial of the k20d.

Is there a function where i can select aperture, shutter speed, sensitivity and exposure compensation without one taking priority over the other. I can select Sensitivity, aperture and Ev but not also shutter speed all at once. Am i doing something wrong or not getting something?

Which i guess would tie in perfectly with DA*50-135. Maybe that is an option but i think a fair bit more expensive... like double the price. but i do want the weather sealing f the DA* lenses. Are there any weather sealed teleconverters?

i didn't realise the 100-300mm sigma is basically bigger than the bigma when not extended. Where in the focal range does the bigma stop up from f4 is it around 100 or more like 150mm? i had a look at some of your photos Michael the quality of both your lenses is very good.
PS how long is it when zoomed to 500mm?

I can't afford it right now but good luck whoever wants it.

i have heard it's big and heavy and i know i'll probably need a monopod (or a gym membership). But is it phsically too big to manage or is it usable day to day?
I've read the reviews but i still don't know if its practical. would a sigma 100-300mm f4 with a 1.4 or 1.7 teleconverter be a better option. i've heard you just cant get really sharp shot with a teleconverter.

I'm relatively new to the digital camera game but after reading these forums have already begun what seems like a never ending need to buy new lenses.
I currently own the 18-55 ALII kit lens with my K200d and have since bought a m50 f1.7 and an old Tamron 135mm f2.8 aswell as a pretty dodgy 2x tele converter.
At this stage i'm taking all kinds of photos from bbq portraits of friends to flowers and landscapes, everything really. I was at the beach the other day watching some surfers but in the cloudy weather and long distance i couldn't get much of a decent shot from land with the tele converter and 135mm lens.
I'd love to buy the DA* 50-135mm for weather sealing etc but i dont know if throwing 1500 bucks at that lens will give me the range i want. I'm thinking of buying the bigma and maybe decide after using that if i could see where in it's massive range i'll be taking most of my photos.
Is the bigma just too big to handle, does it give good photos?
All in all would it be smart to be learning on such as enormous lens?
