K3III or Kf?

I have moved to K1-II a few years ago and don't regret it, but I have a few DA lenses left.

Now, I was thinking I might buy an APS-C body for those circumstances where you want less weight or want to save my beloved 21-31-43-77 possible damages, when trekking for example.

The Kf has an interesting price, but battery is different from K1-II and K3III, and probably with smaller capacity.

On the other side, K3III is as expensive as a K1-II, I'm sure it's a great camera but for me it would be a spare: does it make sense?

Also, I would need to buy the DA21 again.
I had sold mine because I was very unhappy of the IQ, maybe it was just my copy, but that focal length is mandatory.
I am afraid to invest in a K3III and get another sloppy DA21...

What do you think?

Hello All,
Adorama sells the K1-II at 1700$ (=1561€), while the EU official shop sells it at 2099€..
Why such a difference?

Actually, I am very happy of my K1-II and would not go back to film, nonetheless I would be happy to have my LX ready to go, in case I want to. So purchasing another one is out of question.

Hello All,

recently I used my retired LX and noticed random mirror lockups when used in Auto.

It's not a sticky mirror problem.

The service workshop told me it's not fixable because "it's about the camera electronics", and there are not parts available.

By your experience, does this make sense?

Thanks for any advice,

-Gian

If Pentax really wanted to revive film cameras, why don't they bring more life to their flagship FFF camera?
I will never buy a toy camera like the new film camera, but would be happy to have my LX back in service (and pay for it).

I respect your opinion, I only say that Pentax should put available resources on one only of the two lines.

Done, got the link by e-mail.
Firefox crashed twice, so I moved to Chromium.
I questioned if it made sense to maintain two lines (APS-C and FF) so close regarding IQ.
Told them that on my part, I moved from APS-C (or better, I returned!) to FF and would never go back, even if the price to pay is the size and the weight, so if they kill the K1, I will buy another one as spare.
Being 65, it would serve me till my last days..
Anyway I advised to give up offering cheap, compact, powerzoom, video cameras, that only mar the brand, and focus on what dedicated, expert photographers want (Leica docet).

Hello All,

talking about my K1-II, I have a Metz m400P and would like to be able to trigger it remotely, using TTL, slow sync, and HSS.

I have a 5m cord, but it works only manual, so I thought to add a second unit.

Couldn't find one, but I found this Godox TT350P on Amazon.

Do they mix well as master/slave?

Which function is retained, and which is lost?

Thanks for your comments,

-Gian

Actually, if only the K3-III had a GPS I would keep them and add the smaller camera instead.

APSC package is much smaller and lighter for traveling.

Hello All,

I realized that autofocus problems like hunting can be related to a dirty autofocus lens, but how do you clean that?

I clean the sensor now and then, so I know dirt gets inside: I only have primes so I switch lenses often.

Thanks for your advice,

-Gian

I come from an era where I fed my LX with Kodachrome, so I have a different perspective about the cost of the camera.
If you think each click is 1€ spent, I have already saved 20K€ with my K1-II.
So if I really need a new camera, even at 5K€ it sounds a bargain.
The question is, do I really NEED a new, better camera?
Yes, I would buy a new one, so I would keep the K1-II as spare, and benefit some technological advancements, but I know that it won't make me a better photographer.
My LX has been in production for 20 yrs, and I was never anxious to see what would have come after.
There are lots of people that buy Leica, and there is enough room to raise prices before you get there.
