Don't use neutral density filters, buy a solar filter instead. The more you zoom in on the sun, the brighter it will be, too dangerously bright for your eyes. Solar filter will protect your eyes from the brightness and heat. That is what I used to have on a 6 inch telescope. Buy a good quality solar filter and be safe..For your info: ASBF ? Nice photo, did some correcting on background distractions and color. I think it is closer to what you saw.

If I were you, I would update. I have used 3.5 and upgraded all the way up to Lightroom 6. It does offer you more, the shadow/highlight correction, noise reduction alone are much more improved. Lens correction is easier to work with and gives you more options, better speed just to mention a couple. I use it all the time, did not want the CC version. You will be asked for your Lightroom 3.5 serial number when you upgrade during install.

The definition of a photographer to me, is anybody who shows anyone the world through his or her eyes using a camera. Could be an expensive camera or cheap phone camera, doesn't matter. You are sharing your vision of how you see things, everyone's perception will be different but yours will be unique because it is your vision, your composition. We also see colors differently, so everyone is creating a new painting when they take that photo.

Thank you everyone for the compliments. I usually have luck with wildlife. I've been able to even photograph a coyote, plenty of chipmunks, blue jays etc. ---------- Post added 12-24-15 at 07:00 PM ----------
Thank you very much.

I wish it were my backyard, actually went to the Botanical Gardens for all the photos except the bear which was at a zoo. Took a while to find the Hawk, hummingbird and mantis but I was lucky and able to get in close.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm fairly new to Digital Photography, always been an old timer using 35mm film cameras only. I went and bought myself the Pentax K3, 18-135mm, 1:3.5-5.6 lens and wanted to share some of the photos I've taken with it so far. All photos are as is, no processing or cropping and were all hand held. Also would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday.
