Camera shy Red-breasted Sapsucker. Kept hopping around to keep the tree between itself and me. After about ten minutes playing his game I finally got a shot. :)

You also have the option of picking up a few film era lenses that can be had for next to nothing. That's what I did. I still use more modern lenses most of the time but for landscape and nature I've been very happy with my SMC "K" and M lenses on my K1 II. If you haven't done so already check out the Pentax lens reviews at the top of this page.

Nasty weather almost everywhere. I like the look of these. They have a high contrast "gritty" look I find that adds interest. Nice work.

The freezing rain we've been getting was too much for a part of this tree next to our house. Luckily the limb fell the other direction. Sounded like a canon going off. Car was parked closer than you see here and the side mirror's cover got busted up just a bit. If the car had been parked four feet closer to the house :eek:

I found a short tutorial from 2019 that talks about customizing lens profiles. Whether it's been improved in the last five years I have no idea. Not even 100% sure this is what you were asking Pepperberry. :) But maybe it will help.

I'm liking the Brilliance AI feature as well. I've toned it down a bit in preferences and usually tweak it some more. But it's a great one click beginning to where I want to take the image.

I switched from photoshop elements to On1 Photo RAW six years ago. Very happy with my decision. Have always considered "bang for my buck" when purchasing products. Probably the biggest reason I use Pentax. Just checked the price difference between On1 Photo RAW 2024 and DXO Photolab 7 Elite.

Was time to dust off the ol' K-50 again so when this Red-breasted Sapsucker landed on one of our maple trees I attached my DA* 300MM to it and snapped a few off our front porch.
