Great photos... a lot of talent
I wish there was a way I could deselect the ones I don't like particularly much... would ease the selection of the ones that I really like...
To choose the best of 115 photos the way it is set up today, is a bit difficult... just an idea...

Thanks to the advice from wlachan I have repaired the lens myself... Thanks Alan... :)
It was as he explained the 3 little screws that had gone loose. I just followed his instructions and it was an easy DIY-operation.
As the filter rim was loose I could pull it backwards and I managed to loosen the tape-on-ring without dismounting the filter rim. Added some thread-lock to the screws, screwed them back down, mounted the tape-on-ring again... and the filter rim is fixed... and my hood no longer rotates... :)
Added a pic. to show how the lens looks with the tape-on-ring peeled back and one of the three loose screws.

Thanks wlachan.
Sounds like you got it... ;) I did notice something like 3 small protrusions behind the tape-on-ring and was wondering whether I should have a look beneath it or not. I tried loosening it, but it was pretty unwilling to come loose and then again... I didn't know what I would find behind it...
I'll have a look at it tomorrow. Sounds like a pretty easy thing to do. The hardest thing might be to get a new tape-on-ring, but it shouldn't be impossible.
I went to a store today to get an offer on having it repaired... I would have to pay €125 just to have it looked at!!! If I accepted the offer, the 125 € would be considered a down payment. Thanked them nicely... no thanks...
So your advice is very much appreciated... thanks...:)

The title should probably have been: Loose Rotating Lens Hood on DA 14.
Don't know how to edit the title...

Any suggestions on how to solve a problem with my DA 14/2.8 would be very much appreciated... :)
The hood is kind of circulating around the end of the lens. The fault is not in the lens hood itself... the hood is fine. It's what I call the 'ring' on the lens that locks the hood onto the lens. Normally this 'ring' is like an integral fixed part of the lens, and you use it to attach the hood plus your filters.
Normally when you mount the hood, it stays firmly in the right position, relative to the format of the sensor, never casting a shadow onto the sensor. In my case this 'ring' is rotating, causing the hood to rotate too, although the hood is firmly attached to the 'ring'. The result is that the hood add strange shadows to my pictures - a bit like unwanted vignetting - unless I make sure the hood is rightly positioned and not at an angle.
I do hope this makes sense. Added some pictures - hope they do a better job of explaining...

Don't worry... be happy... ;)
I think some technician had a bad day and I was just plain unlucky. :ugh:
It is not my experience that Pentax Germany gives a bad service, on the contrary, and I do expect to get a perfect calibrated camera back.
Hopefully you'll get the same.

At first it looked like the focus had improved, but then I discovered that some of my lenses actually had gotten a bit worse, but the main problem was the lack of ability to focus properly. As an example, I tried to photograph a golden dome a night with the 77 ltd. I shot 10-15 pictures, all with different setting, but the camera just wouldn't focus properly. I then got out the old DS and first take, bingo, got the picture.
Besides when I got the camera back the sensor and the viewfinder was even more dirty than before, even though Pentax Denmark had requested a cleaning. I remember when I send in my DS for service years ago, it came back like a new camera and has performed excellent ever since... and I guess that level of excellence is really what I'm asking for :)

I got mine back from Germany after 3 weeks. But unfortunately they didn't do a very good job, so tomorrow it goes back to Germany, this time with my most used lenses ranging from 14 to 300 mm. I do hope that sending the lenses together with the camera this time will make a difference. Luckily I can still borrow my good old DS from my wife... I hope :)

Well it's not every camera that has been serviced, that get's it's model revision updated. Got my camera back a bit more than a month ago after it being serviced at Pentax Germany. Mine is still rev. model 1.2, manufacture date 2006-12-10. :)

Ben, I guess you requested a revision specifically? Did you have to send any lenses with the cameras as well? I'm asking because I'm a bit reluctant about sending my lenses with the post, especially as my most used lenses are the FA Ltd. ;-s

Sounds interesting. Looking forward to what Pentax France will do.
Just got my K10D having a BF issue back from Pentax Germany. No change to the revision model at all. Same as before repair, model 1.2, manufacture date 2006-12-10.
Well the repair fixed some lenses but also gave me problems with other lenses, so I still have a problem with my focus, maybe I do need to ask specifically for the update to version 8.1

Thanks Jon
It's funny with the prices. I've found that the Naneu brand is way cheaper here in Europe, compared to the US.
As I mentioned to Beth. I have been looking at the Lowepro Rover AW II, but I'll give the Compurover a look too.
For everyday use I like the Domke F-803. It's handy and does not look like a camerabag att all, but the protection/the padding is poor

Thanks Beth
That's one of my reasons for asking. I can't find any dealers here in Denmark, the closest is in Holland, quite a bit out of the way :)
I'm not 100% sure what you mean by 7,34L ... I guess that's the size of the camera section in Liters? That is about the size of my Domke F-803 and then it got the section above for extra storage. The total of the bag is something like 54 L, measured on the exterior. And then the weight doesn't scare me.
5.25 lps=2.4 kg, that's not too bad. It got a spring steel frame, that might be one of the reasons for the weight, but then again it also provides some security. I've also been looking at the Lowepro Rover AW II, it's got something like a 10 L camera section. and weighs only about 1.6 kg. That's another option. I think the padding/protection on the K3 is better though.

In the search for a good backpack I lately came across the Naneu Pro K3 Adventure - K3 - Naneu Pro | Camera Bag & Laptop Case Solutions
and it looks to be a very interesting backpack with room for a body plus a few lenses plus the possibility to carry additional gear in a separate top section. It also has side pockets and can carry a tripod. And the price here in Europe is low compared to other brands like Lowepro.
Has anyone any experience with this bag ... or just with the brand Naneu Pro? How is it compared to Lowepro?
Thanks, Ebbe

Congratulations :)
Just remember that the cheap card should also be a fast card. The K10D benefits from a fast card ... well that's what I've read ... I'm still waiting for mine :(

Thanks Adam
I just noticed the possibility of using the Simple Skin and what an improvement to the download speed. Maybe it's just my laptop, but I used to sit and wait for quite a while, waiting for the site to download - and that was every time I changed thread - so after a few threads I normally just left :o
For me at least, it's a big improvement. Too much waiting often makes me a bit impatient and then I would go back to dpreview, but the major reason was the speed ... definitely not the content :)
