Hi,
I shoot nature, a bit of Astro and landscapes, airplanes and birds. So subjects that don't move much such as landscapes and subjects that are quick such as the Red Bull air race and Eagles/Raptors and if I can ever find a subject - Owls.
I get the same looks at Robert's when I try to trade in Pentax gear or buy it. Which is odd as they seem to sell a good deal of used Pentax gear.

Nice shot. Good to see a Pentax user here in Indy - I thought perhaps I was the only one.

I just read the review and perhaps I'm just used to DPreview having a negative overall slant to pretty much any Pentax product but I did not find the overall tone that negative. Most folks looking to spend the money it takes to go full frame should have some level of knowledge to understand that most any product is going to have a week spot or two. Yes it costs a good deal of money as it should as a new lens. lets see if the Ol' Camera Store TV folks now DP video guys do a review of this lens.
One day I'd love to see DP do a review of products based on why I selected Pentax several years ago. One day to photograph a location (vacation) and it's raining/poor weather. I'm not staying inside as it's my only day. Pick any Nikon, Canon, Sony and so on and at any price point, Pentax is the best option. I started with the K-50 and loved it day 1.

I have felt the pull of the "Dark Side" for a while now. I rented out a Fuji XT-1 along with a few lens for two weeks and at the end while it is a cool camera, I just did not enjoy the camera as much as my K3. I've looked at Canon and Nikon but what I'd give up (weather sealed, DNG, dual card slots, GPS via hot shoe & faster frame rate) did not equal what I'd gain (better focus & more lens selection) within in similar cost range. I'm hopeful for a K3II replacement within a year and will then take a look around again.

Thank you one and all. I’m overwhelmed with the number of responses and with the detailed info. At this time I feel one of the Robinon lens will fit my needs and budget. I look forward to trying it out on her upcoming vacation and report back with any successful images. Again, thanks to all.

Howdy,
I’ll be in some dark sky areas in a few weeks in northern Maine and Canada and am curious what folks are using for lens for night photography with the Astrotracer.
I have a few older 50s both M42 and M along with the DA* 16-50 currently. Well I don’t have too much time to pick up a new to me lens, I’m curious what folks are using. Looking for wider shots incorporating possibly some landscape elements depending on weather conditions.
Using a K3 body with GPS via hot shoe.
Thanks

Howdy all,
So I picked this lens up from Robert's last week and went out to Goose Pond IN for some birding and testing of this beast. I had a good deal of fun learning what this can and can not do. It was no so bad walking around with this lens over my shoulder attached to my tripod and gimbal head. Does anyone know where I can find the drop in filters for this? This is my first lens to use this type of filter and all I can find in quick research are Nikon drop in's for newer lens. A few pics from yesterday, quickly edited from RAW via my Ipad and PS Express. Focus is a learning process with this lens, live view helped when setup in the shade on my K3. Step one on my journey using this beast.
Thanks
