A couple of recent shots with my SMC Tak 1:4/200 on the K-3 II
The first two were from the woods behind my barn in northern New Hampshire and the last is an old stone water tower at Fort Ethan Allen in Essex, Vermont. |

I do a fair number of panoramas and have the best results by not using a tripod. When I use a tripod, I always seem to get a "curve of the Earth" horizon effect. I hold the camera in portrait mode with a slight overlap on images, then post process using Adobe Bridge, Camera Raw, and Photoshop.

These were shot handheld with a SMC Tak 1:5.6/400 on a K20D. I picked up the lens for $168. It's not very fast, but it's fine outdoors and it's fairly light.

The main image was shot at a shutter speed of 4 seconds. That allowed the trees to be visible, but washed out the details of the moon. The moon was shot at 1/60 and then resized and placed on a layer over the washed out moon of the original exposure.

SMC Pentax-F 50 F1.4 on the K3 II. A perfect lens to let you feel how crisp a January day can be in northern New Hampshire.

Hi all,
I've used the forum as a resource for a number of years and always meant to sign up. I guess today is the day.
My first 35mm was an Argus C3 Rangefinder Camera. My first SLR was the Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic that I scraped to buy in 1968. I've been a die hard Pentax fan ever since. I think I still have every piece of Pentax equipment that I ever purchased. I no longer use the film cameras, but I definitely use all of my lenses. I'm never without a camera (or 3) and often carry all the lenses, as I have favorites for different situations.
I shoot mostly landscape and wildlife, lots of mountains, skiing, kayaking, occasional weddings, and candid shots for families.
I earn my living as a paramedic and ski patroller, but a camera is always within reach.
These are the cameras and lenses:
