I do occasionally pan some shots however boats will move up and down along with left to right or right to left. The rougher the water gets the more up and down motion that really screws with panning. Also, I'm currently battling 2 bad shoulders that don't allow a very fluid panning technique. Here are a few from the past. |

Looking at (my) photos taken witht he kit lenses makes me think I should spend more money (and time) on getting good photo opportunities and less on lenses because aside from being slow the kit lenses are really very good, especially combined with the in camera distortion correction.
