It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it can be frustrating. How would I reload firmware? To answer your question, yes, only portions of the overlay are corrupted. And I haven't experienced any problems with the image itself.

I've only seen it on the lcd status screen. And if it's happening, it happens in Live View as well. All the numbers and symbols for my settings are replaced by the colored shapes. I'm not sure about replaying an image. I'll check that next time.

Here's a picture of what's happening every once and a while. It returns to normal when I turn it off and then on or take the battery out and put it back in. I cleaned contacts around the lens mount. During Live View, only the settings are affected, not the image. I can still see the settings in the viewfinder.

I spotted Blue Grosbeak land on the catkins (flowers) of our American Chestnut tree and got a few shots, including this one of a male about to mate with the female that landed on the catkins.

Thanks Angky. I thought the B&W with red berries was very effective as well, somehow conveying her moment of making this "strawberry party" she was wanting to create.

I spotted a hawk flying into this scene as I drove by. I stoppped and got a couple of shots of the hawk, but this photo is the one I wanted to share as the hawk was too far away. The owner of the property stopped along the road and asked me what I was doing "with that thing," my camera. I said, "taking pictures." His wife was glaring at me like I was doing something absolutely awful. "What are you going to do with them?" the husband asked, accusingly. I looked puzzled. The wife continued to glare. The husband said, "okay" and drove away, as did I.
Spoiled a beautiful experience. I'm thinking I might print a picture and take it to them.

I never seem to have enough time to spend setting up landscape shots. This shot was taken about an hour from home after a 12-hour drive. We stopped somewhere between Charlotte and Asheboro, NC, to straighten up some luggage that had shifted in the car when slamming on the brakes in slow traffic. One photo, and then back to driving....
