Fascinating video which must have incorporated a massive amount of research. I was unaware of just how many cameras Pentax have produced, but the information about the ones I know of is spot on. The presentation seems very professional too, the alternating male and female voices is an engaging approach.
I have a couple of minor points : 30:35 I suggest you point out that the K1000 was a simplified KM rather than a further design, effectively replacing it as the budget camera in the K series (and of course remained the budget camera through some subsequent series). The main changes were the omissions of the self-timer and depth of field preview, allowing the deletion of the lever on the front panel. 1:12:00 The SDM lenses were not "also released with a screw drive motor". The screw drive motor is in the camera, and the lens had only a screw drive coupling shaft.

Hi FozzFoster, thanks for the great video project. I own (now somewhere deep in a box) an ME-F. The body uses 4xLR44s. I never had the autofocus lens, I presume that's what you are referring to having AA batteries.

I have a number of Pentax advertising items, plus the Danilo Cecchi book, if there is anything from them that might help contact me.

The first video was very good. An update would be very much appreciated. As a long time Pentaxian, the video brought back many memories.
Thanks for your efforts.

The M37 thread of the Asahiflex is NOT comparable to the M39 Leica thread, it's different, just like M42 is not comparable to M44 of the Miranda SLRs.

Excellent video, indeed! I thought I might watch it a bit at a time, using the pause and getting some other things done. But I couldn't stop once I got into it, or if so it was brief and I went right back to it. It was rather stunning to realize, due to this comprehensive video, just how many first-evers Pentax has contributed! I already knew of some of these, but seeing them in one fell swoop makes this so much more impressive. Watching it was also riveting for me, as in much of it I was also seeing a good part of my life flashing by before my eyes!

One frustrating aspect of such a project is the fact that a number of the chapters of the ultimate encyclopedia have already been written! Compiling all the projects that went before and filling the gaps would further utilize all those previous efforts! One can dream!

I'm in a similar boat right now with my dad - but his situation may resolve to have him independent again. If that happens - maybe I will be the one with time to do it. I doubt it - but anything is possible.

Unfortunately UV I have a handicapped wife who demands a large percentage of my time; I can't even write an email without interruption! I like the idea though!

Sounds like a worthwhile effort! I'm sure the result will be appreciated just as much as the original video :)
I can confirm the EI-200 isn't the same as the EI-2000, but unfortunately I don't own the latter to provide footage. I do have a (faulty) EI-100 if you're interested in adding it.
Also, regarding Sears, I agree that it's a retailer - but also a brand... a minor point, but perhaps worth mentioning...

Hey guys,
I'm in the process of trying to completely disassemble and reassemble a Pentax MX camera. I bought it in a half-working shape - shutter times seemed OK except long exposures when the mirror would sometimes stick, the bulb mode didn't work and light meter didn't work either. However, the camera was dirty and corroded, so I decided to dive myself into basically rebuilding it. However, I found that searching the parts in the exploded camera view takes a ton of time. So I spent some time in inkscape, adding a text layer to the figures to make them searchable. I hope someone else will find those useful. Also, a small peek at how the camera looks at the moment ;-)
TLDR.: attached are searchable figures from the Pentax MX Service Manual.

Exactly, it's AF-C when you need it and AF-S when you need that.

This is for KF/K70 but I'd expect something similar on the KP. You Tube |

No option covers my choice, which is "I'll buy the camera whatever the price".
