This is very pleasing compositionally, but I feel like it's got a couple things to look for next time.

Firstly, focus is a bit soft, even at f8. It looks like critical focus starts somewhere around gentleman in the golf cart. Wish either your friend or the horse were critical focus.

Secondly, and this is the trickier thing to learn, I think: always expose for your highlights. Shadows will recover incredibly well, but once your highlights are blown out, there's no coming back. Better to underexpose your photos so that the sky detail is retained and can be pulled down without getting all...digital looking.

Keep it up!

I'd push it in post more...you could do with more overall brightness in your image.

Preserve the gloom, but bring it up a touch.

I'm pretty sure I want an X-T3 at this point. Fuji's color handling is just superb. It really does have that classic rendering profile that reminds me of film school.

But I'm thinking drone before camera.

DA* 60-250 question...

Unrelated question on this lens:

I rented a copy from Lens Rentals for F1 this weekend, figuring it would be nice to have a long tele for shots from our seats in the stands. It arrived today and the zoom ring feels tight and almost gritty, especially between 60-135 according to the lens barrel. Is this copy in bad shape and should I report this to LR or does the zoom always feel this...severe?

This morning with the DA 35 Macro.

This lens is maybe the most versatile lens I've ever had the pleasure of shooting with.

If you ever have trouble finding used lenses, you can always post in the Wanted section. I did for the DA 15 Limited and a fellow Pentaxian got to me with a better deal than I'd seen on Ebay. It was a gem of a copy and made shooting architecture on my vacation that much more enjoyable.

My system's pretty simple. I don't delete anything. I import everything and quickly rush through them in Lightroom to see what I have. Ones I want to come back to, I flag. Once I have a pile of flagged photos, I start editing them in no particular order. I occasionally go back over the entire import to see if there are photos I missed flagging the first time. Sometimes flagged photos get demoted back into the pile, so it works both ways.

K-50 purchased 6/1/2015 (That's June 1st).

Shutter count is now 4952, no perceived issues yet.

Peak Design has finally designed a backpack. It comes in two sizes, and the Kickstarter is up right now:

I'm ordering the 20L version.

Poll: K-70 or used k-3/k-3 II?

This is for live view and video only. I don't utilize either of those features--if I did, I would have moved on from Pentax long ago.

My point is more about the fact that the number of AF points isn't any higher than it is on my K-50. I want more resolution and latitude, but I'd sacrifice video performance for nailing focus when it actually matters to me.

Is the K-70 just the K-3 sensor with the electronics of the K-50 & K-S2? The increased resolution with stagnant AF makes me feel like I'd still rather the K-3 II. But it also makes me wonder what Kenspo's been dancing around the past week...

In the two weeks I was in Spain, I saw dozens of Canons & Nikons with a handful of Sonys, Panasonics and Fujis and precisely one other Pentax body.

The only reason I'd consider parting with the DA 15 Ltd is if I switched to a FF body. I think I've outgrown the K-50, but I don't see the need to get the K-1 over the K-3 at the moment. Less money on the body means more money for lenses and trips to foreign lands!
