Picture quality - how to get it bettet?

Thank you all for your replies. Unfortunately for me noone seems to blame my camera equipment so there won't be an easy fix for me. I have a lot to think about as it seems to me that the best solution to my poor picture quality is to continue to educate myself and practice, practice, practice. I do have to be aware of the limitations of my technic and my lenses. I do hope I can develope the skills I see in other Pentaxians photographies. I too want to be able to get those sharp, no-noise photos that I know the K-1 is capable of.

Have a nice photographic summer you all! :)

I am getting really frustrated with my photography now. I know I don't havet the best lenses Pentax havet made but my pictures are very noisy and unsharp. I use the 55-300 PLM, the da 50 f/1.8, the dag 28-105, Sigma 120-400 and I need to use high ISO to get enough light. And still I think my photos lack sharpness. I believe it has benen getting worse duting the last test. Can it be something wrong with my K-1 of is it just bad lenses? Miserable phoyographer? Can an update to mark II help me?

Amateur Photographers (UK) Predicts End for Pentax

Pentax and Pentaxians will have to accept that there will be speculations about the future of the brand as there are hardly any new products on the market. All the rest of the camera manufacturers are releasing new products, not all of them breathtaking, but new products. The delay of the K3 mark III and the delay of priomised new lenses like DFA 50 is not helping the company.

The last flash to be released was in 2015, The last lens in 2016. There are in Sweden only 4 camera models sold branded with Pentax name. One is the Efina from 2013. Firmware updates for KP and K-70 has occured during 2017 but they haven't givven the cameras more than stability, no new features.

The K-1 is a fantastic camera, but once you bought it the only income Pentax will get from it is incomes from lenses and other gadgets and there aren't enaough new products to buy. Frankly there are maybe too many nice old and good pentax lenses on the market to kill Pentax as a brand. I love taking photos with my K-1 but I think it's kind of boring to be a Pentaxian when it comes to buying things. The K-1 mark II is not anything I care to pay for. Give me a K-3 mark III with fantastic specs and performance and we are talking!

Pentax is a company and they cannot survive on our praises only, they need cash to survive and a lot of them too.It hurts to admit but I do believe Pentax won't be on the global camera market in 2019 if they don't come up with some revolutionary products soon. Not even the company itself is marketing Pentax as an innovative brand based on the information they present on their websites.

Oh, I do hope I'm wrong!

Imagesync - remember password

This weekend I was photographing at a big market and the imagesync helped me give some extra service for some costumers. There were many networks in the area and it felt good to secure my system with the password. But why can't the Imagesync store my camera password? Turning in wifi is easy and quick, but getting the password is inefficent.

Hi,

I'm thinking about digiscoping with my K-1. I have no experience of digiscoping and only little experience of spottingscopes. Has anyone tried it with the lovely but heavy K-1. I think the set has to be very stable for the weight and for the amount of pixels. The glass needs to be good too I believe, if the pictures are to going to do the camera justice. Advices please!

New firmware update 1.41

Image transmitter is not to be found in Europe. It is expensive and comes in a CD from some very distant place. I believe you cannot choose most Europeans languages and it seems to be a standard alone application. Nothing that will work with PS. I hope someone corrects me though. The firmware update is therefore probably not interesting for most of us yet, apart from the general performance thing. Let's hope this is the start of Pentax developing more modern software solutions. Looking forward to 1.5 allready!

I would not accuse you for anything roberrl! I don't have any Theta so comming to technology you might be more advanced than me. We probably just have different needs and creative ideas. :)

I could use the smartphone as a remote (for Free) when photographing in akward positions during hours of waiting. I could get closer to wildlife, even if this might Count as cheating for some. For exampel I could have taken some pictures of birds today, inspite of not being physically able to go outside. Someone could have helped me carrying the camera, but I would be the one shoting the photo. Temporarily disabled this could have made my day.

I also believe an app you can't rely on doesn't do justice to a camera with built in wifi, only working with that app.

Hi,

I am the proud owner of a K-1 and I do love it. It is a fantastic camera and it has so many built in features I discover new ones all the time. It is not the perfect camera, there is no such thing and there has been discussions on this forum of the K-1 poor video function and its not really too amazing AF-system. I think that enough is said about that but what about Pentax softwares?

I've tried to use the tethering modul for lightroom and actually it's not very impressing. Only to get the plug-in to land in the right folder took ages. The only thing I then am able to use the computer for is to press the shutterbutton. I could use the Pentax variation of tethering software but then I have to get a physical copy of the software, delivered from the US, I think. Usually softwares are to be instantly downloaded from the net. I buy a lot of software that way and it works fine. Why won't Pentax make it easier and help me spend money on their products?

I also want to use my smartphone to be able to control my camera. There is this app but it sure lacks in functions and stability. There has been rumours of this app not being compatible with newer versions of android, but that wouldn't be hard to fix if, would it? A great working app would make Pentax a reallly interesting alternative to all the brands that may not be mentioned by names.

Smartphone's apps are often updated once a month and even the OS is often updated, all for pleasing the costumers. Pentax has done a great job updating the software for the K-1. Every update has made me feel like I have a new camera, which is satisfying. I have felt like I am an important costumer for Pentax. How about making the same effort in photo processing softwares and tethering software and all other kind of software that I don't know I've been missing? I would be willing to spend money on downloadable softwares and I would be feeling that VIP-sense if the app would work and be renewed once in a while.

Does anyone know if Pentax has plans for the software situation? What software do you miss?

Lack of cameras - buy abroad? Warranties?

Well, actually I have checked status of the webshops and online stores in Scandinavia, including the retailers of Focus Nordic. No K-1 anywhere. The shop I was to get mine three weeks ago has now changed the order status to inknown date of delivery the importing doesn't know when they can get the K-1. You will get a camera, eventually......

There are no K-1 in Scandinavia. Three weeks after I was promissed one I get to know that there are no K-1 at all to deliever. I know there has been this catastrophic earthquake and there are people far worse off than me, but I am really disappointed. My summer photography is not getting where it was planned.

Now I'm considering buying a K-1 from England. Thanks to Brexit it seems like a good deal. But how about warranties? But, do I have to turn to England to get help if there is a problem or can I turn to the Swedish service to get help if the K-1 from abroad is broken? My K.30 has never had any real problems but one can never know with technoligy.

Or should I just wait...? Does anyone know when the cameras are being delivered again?

Hi, I will soon get my K-1and I love to use my sigma 120-400 on the camera. I was thinking about the possibilities of a rear tele konverter. The 1,4x pentax is a da- but seems to work with vingetting. Is there other and bryter options?

What do you think about the K-70 's ability for wildlife photography?

My K-30 is small, light, weathersealed and works with my Sigma 120-400. It's perfect for strolling around in the woods, I love it! But the k-30 is so slow and the buffer is filled at once. Could the k-70 be something to replace the k-30 with?

Since this is a Place where it's ok to dream: I want a k-30s size and weight and weathersealing and so on with a d500 speed and buffer and a k-1s picture quality, specially performance in higher iso. Still I would be interested in just a new, faster k-30 with a lager buffer. The rest is just bonus.
