This append once. I never reproduce this problem. Probably a battery issue. I notice a huge difference of autonomy between my K3II with GPS and my K7. With my K7 I made 650 shots with a single battery (and I can continue) the same day. With my K3 II I was really surprise to have the battery down after 6 hours / 220 shots on a tripod. Probably the GPS need more energy than the body. And off course, the day I was short in battery life, I forgot my spare battery...

Hi,
I'm the owner of two bodies : a K7 (2011) and a K3 II (2016).
For my K7, the rubber protection of usb connectors has gone to dust like the micro protection. (quote > 200 $)
The right side andbottom rubber protection is still good.
For my K3 II Inoticed a corrosion point on the front of the case, like electrolysis
It was taken over under warranty by Pentax.
When Irecovered my K3, the viewfinder was covered with dust, the focusing screen looked scratched and mainly I had to adjust the diopter adjustment dial to the range stop, if I do not want a fuzzy image inside my viewfinder.
Today, it is two months I left my K3 II I to the Pentax's after-sales service.
If one adds the fact, that a day I need to remove the battery of my K3 II to stop it.
Another day, I had a serie of shots taken in overprint, I don't know why.
Of course, It's not the only brand like this but, I am so disappointed that I would have already changed brand if I didn’t have so many Pentax's lenses and accessories.
Many manufacturers are complaining about the decline in camera sales. Who knows why...

I don't know, I was with live view and gps. I can try to change by battery.
But I'm sure it was not full charged but not empty.
I'll check it if this occurs another time.
I hope it's not a failure...

Hi, yesterday I made some macro picture in Live view mode. At a certain point, my body freeze. Impossible to do anything ! I put the body in off position but the live view stay on. I put the body on and off, but still the live view screen on.
I remove the battery and all came back to normal.
A day later, macro picture Av mode, impossible to change any parameter aperture was freeze at a value.
I put the body off and on and all came back to normal.
I saw Pentax ask for the return of some K3 II but my serial number is normaly not concerned.
I am disapointed...

Ok after months of investigation and bad informations from Pentax in my own country, the result is :
You HAVE TO put off the gps before stopping the camera. Like this it's ok, otherwise the camera continue to drain the battery and after a month your battery will be flat.
Enjoy.

Thanks for this information. It can be a workaround. I'm in touch with Ricoh, I'll see what's happened

After switching the batteries from my K7 and K3II, I got the same result. K7 "off" non problem but on my K3II "off" the battery is mosly down after a month. Off course, removing the battery solve the problem but how long you can leave the K3II without battery and not loosing your settings and the initial body settings like : date, hour, copywright etc. ?

I asked to Ricoh.
Answer : when you put your camera off, all the functions are off, no matter what you are using before. It can be a battery problem or a camera problem.
I swap the battery of my K7 and K3 II. Like this I'll find it's a camera failure or battery failure.
Answer in few weeks...

Hi,
I purchased a brand new K3II few weeks ago.
The history :
-1 I received my K3II, when I tried to initialized the body (hour, date) it shutdowns : battery full discharged (I know, I know. At first you have to charge the battery. But it's the first electronic's item I purchased with a battery completly discharged.
-2 I charged the battery, take around 100 pictures, and keep the boddy plugged (gps on) during I explored the manuel 2 or 3 hours maximum.I forgot the K3II in his bag for 2/3 weeks. some picture. I can't take one. The autofocus run 5 sec and the boddy stops battery fully discharged.
-3 almost same thing. I made around 250 shots, keep the boddy in his suitcase and when I want to use it, the battery was really discharged (one bar on the display)
Anyway, I put the battery of my K7 inside the K3II (I'm sure it's good) and leave the boddy as this : gps on but K3II off.
I think the best way it's to wait for a couple of weeks and see what's happened. If the battery is down too that means that the K3II never stops completly and continue to need energy. On my K7, I left for months sometime, the boddy off with the battery indisde and get hundred of shots without charging anything.
An idea ? Gps ?
