On the way to work this morning: K-1 + DFA 70-200. Shot as a 6-frame panorama, but this crop actually ended up close to being possible in a single shot, at just over 8k pixels wide. PP in RawTherapee, final crop in GIMP. Sunrise + 27 minutes by h4yn0nnym0u5e, on Flickr

Thank you kindly. The original was a bit less so, just goes to show what a bit of PP can do: IMGP3047 by h4yn0nnym0u5e, on Flickr

Wandering around Bury St Edmunds last Friday, waiting while #2 son took his driving test (he passed!). No idea what this guy was up to in the graveyard - writing or drawing something...

Here you go. 15-30 @ 15mm, 1.3s @ f/2.8. Either the f/2.8 got me, or the camera was slipping gently off the bag. I've also just noticed that at the bottom left, the power lines are parallel to the clouds. This one's not a cheat, the train and vehicles were passing in the one shot. I tried correcting the convergence so the TV transmitter on the left is vertical, but it loses too much of the cloudscape. IMGP2599+pp by h4yn0nnym0u5e, on Flickr

Thanks. The clouds were the inspiration, spotted as I returned from an evening wandering around Cambridge. I couldn't tell if they'd compose well with the power station and moon, but as it happened they did. Hung around for about 20 minutes waiting for the moon to emerge; there were a couple of trains, and the emergency vehicle was a bonus, otherwise it'd've had to be boring old truck/car lights! I'll PP and post another image at 15mm soon, but I don't think it worked quite so well.

15-30mm, 2.5s @ f/7.1. Four images merged to get the moon, train, emergency vehicle and a very hard-to-see aircraft all in together... IMGP2613+merged by h4yn0nnym0u5e, on Flickr

That's OK Schraubstock, you can use just "London" on its own when you mean the UK one. It only needs qualifying if you're referring to the copies in Arkansas, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Kiribati, Ontario, London Island or the asteroid 8837 London...

...sometimes it's just gotta be done! Tried a couple of crops and in the end decided to roll with it as it came, even though I was spot focussing due to the shallow DOF on the DA*300 near/at MFD, rather than composing an "artistic" framing. I must sacrifice another mini-jar and try to capture a WIF - there were plenty of them but I didn't have long enough to get a keeper, the restaurant wanted its table back! This is part of a 14-image series of butterfly photos taken between 2018-07-06 and 2018-08-02. All were with the K-1 and DA*300; 9 of them were taken within the space of an hour, in an area about 240x80m, and are of 8 different species, with a couple more species being taken in the same area during the next few weeks. The rest were at various times and places in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Surrey.
Rather than spam a single thread with all 14 images, I thought it would be fun to post them in different threads and provide a link from one to the next. Follow the links to threads you might otherwise never have looked at! Onwards!
(Actually, I ran out of relevant threads, so a couple have two posts in. Sorry. :o)

D FA 15-30 @ 15mm, ISO 400, 30s @ f/16. 22:19 BST, just after the end of Civil Twilight. Still, impossible to focus accurately, even in LV. Added a couple of candles to the already insane mix of lighting sources: had to wander into the street to trigger the house opposite's security light, and did a bit of light-painting with my iPhone to pick out the climbing plant stems. Tweaked in RawTherapee until the atmosphere felt about right, i.e. a bit lighter than last time. Flickr |

Big Stephen King fan, but Gerald's Game is one of a very very few of his books I'll never re-read. Just ... ouch. Sorry Steve...

So here are some celebratory images:
HD Pentax-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 ED DC AW: Pixel shift used, but I don't think it did much
Channelling Rondec: HD Pentax-D FA 15-30mm F2.8 ED SDM WR
SMC Pentax-A 15mm F3.5: Pixel shift used here, more effective. Straightened up a bit in RawTherapee
SMC Pentax-M 85mm F2: my favourite old lens, one of the main reasons I got a K-1 Flickr page |
