I would run a roll of film through your K1000, process it and make notes of any issues.
I would then send it to Eric for a CLA, this will also give you new light seals and mirror foam. A CLAed K1000 will be around $75.00 (plus shipping back to Canada).

I'd go with the KX over both the K1000 or MX, it's a better camera. You should be able to find one at the camera show as well. I found a mint black CLAed K2 a few years back at the spring Vancouver swap meet.
