Pentax K 135-600 f/6.7 on ebay... good price or not, here it is.

The K1000/8 at least has its tripod mount in a well balanced position. The K135-600/6.7 has its tripod mount too close to the camera to be of much use and is the main reason I never bought one.

The K500/4.5 is also a better option and faster. Still it would be nice to try a K135-600/6.7 and see how it compares to the K1000mm & K500mm & K400mm primes.
