Thanks. I've tried a few resolutions and cropping my scans to pick up more detail on the camera, but not really having much luck. Most of the family images that have come to me from that time frame are 6x9 format, but not to say that he may not have had a square format camera around then. I know that he still had a square format TLR around a decade later, as that was the first camera that I used myself.

Any chance you had a filter on your camera?
Can't quite work this through in my head yet as I still need more coffee this morning but... I think you have shot a "green screen" in the field. Some combination of reflected light between the glass keyed out the green, just like your local TV weather news or movie magic.
Neat shot.
