Unless you actually want to discuss the lens... has anyone got a size comparison for the lens with the DA* 16-50?

The same aperture mechanism has been used for 40 years so it'd be well documented.

I had myself a good example of the Irix (left side slightly softer than right but manageable) and I was absolutely blown away by how usable it was from wide open. I think sometimes people expect to see detail from these lenses in 100% crops that you'd find in a 50mm lens.
The Irix was definitely a step above any wide angle I've used.

Have any * Star lenses ever been made by other manufacturers? I don't remember any...
The * line seems to be designed by Pentax engineers themselves and for the most part, they've made some of the greatest SLR lenses in the world.

This lens coupled with a higher than 24MP APS-C flagship would really put some pressure on the K-1. As long as the price isn't silly, I can see people sticking to the APS-C system upgrades rather than switching to full frame.
