Would you believe fireworks? More than 10 years ago I was taking pictures at a fireworks display and someone was shooting them with a dslr handheld with flash. I wonder how they turned out. Would the flash have brought the shutter speed up enough to give a usable result? I'd try it myself, but I don't want to incur the loathing of everybody within 500m...

I don't know. They looked real but I'm assuming display models not actual cameras. Judging by the presence of the swatches I think the actual colourful camera would be a special order and possibly premium price. I wanted to ask but it was just before closing on a Sunday and they were very busy. I don't even know how much they were for the basic black.
The deep metallics were all very nice. The metallic midnight navy blue almost reads as black at first; subtle and very classy. You can get the metallic brown with a brown grip. The green was lovely deep moss green - my favourite colour - and I have dibs on that one. :D The yellow is all yours.

If I ever have the opportunity, I may just use that.:D I've never seen them at Best Buy, but I did happen on a lovely display of K-50s at Downtown Camera Toronto a week ago.

I've yet (admittedly only a couple of months in with the Pentax) to have anybody be condescending. Maybe it's a Toronto "live and let live" thing, but in public other photographers just give a brief nod and smile if they acknowledge you at all, and get on with their own shooting. The people I know who have dslrs are just happy to talk another person who shares their interest. In conversations with friends, neighbours and colleagues who shoot Canikon, they seem intrigued by my Pentax. They like the two dial green button setup, the viewfinder and the WR, and agree that my K-50 is a great value for the price. I had one neighbour who believed that IBIS was somehow by definition not very good, but after trying mine had to admit that she'd been misinformed.
